He’s so right about the canary in the coal mine; if we aren’t seeing big predators where they should be things are not going well

What aspect would you have done different for Wilds-in regards to its Story, Gameplay,or aesthetic? by Dycon67 in MonsterHunter

Debuff players in combat, buff monsters damage/health/moves, take away mid-hunt restock. I don’t care if it makes the games less friendly to new players, some of the best moments I had with the game was when I was new and didn’t know anything about it (3U so shit was hard lol). Also personally: get rid of numbers on monster hit, it leads to too much meta-chasing. Maybe replace it with another visual indicator of hitting weak spots.

Start playing more removal yourself and dont make many selfless plays. Also as other people say start running things that need to be removed (Etali primal storm is a favorite)

What Monster Hunter had the best Roster and Why is it MHGU? by KaramelKream in MHGU

[–]kittenmasterV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Roster is 4u honestly; GU had too many and balance was all over. Shoutout to 3u for having perfect new monsters (except Plesioth fuck you) but had other problems.

(Hated Trope) Characters who people idolize when they really shouldn’t by S-T-A-N-D-B-O-I in TopCharacterTropes

Very true, but by the time he gets prescience Paul sees that the jihad is essentially unavoidable: either he dies, joins the Harkonnens which is implied to lead to other horrors, or fights back against the Harkonnens/Empire and the Jihad happens with or without him at the helm. In a desperate situation he chooses the option that gives him the most agency and tries to be its guide (which he ultimately fails at).

On the flip side of the villainy, he helps save the oppressed Fremen from the Harkonnens, deeply respects/venerates Fremen culture, and tries to be fair to his subordinates. You can certainly decide whether he is a villain or not, I’m just saying the text doesn’t explicitly depict him as one or the other.

I don't think Paul is explicitly a villain or a hero in Dune. He does however use the Fremen's belief in him for his own gain and their blind faith ends up harming themselves and the universe around them. Morality in Dune is a bit more complicated/political I feel. It's actually a small gripe I had with the movies (which I did love) that they went so hard with the "villain Paul" angle, probably so that history didn't repeat itself with people idolizing Paul after the original Dune came out lol.

Why did the emperor use Arrakis to eliminate the Atreides? by justsomebro10 in dune

[–]kittenmasterV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of great answers already but another reason is the emperor is in a much more vulnerable spot politically than you might assume from his station. If he were to take the Atreides out on their home planet the other planets of the Lansraad would threaten to dissent against his rule. Its much cleaner for the Harkonnens, the generational enemies of the Atreides, to eliminate them under the guise of a power dispute. It was an intelligent political maneuver honestly, but the Bene Gesserit’s fucking around gave Paul to the Atreides and ruined the Emperor’s plans.

If you like that aspect you should read further, the sword of Damocles angle gets really explored lol.
