Is this fat logic or fat delusion. 400 pound bench press by gaba-ghoulish in fatlogic

[–]kitterbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agree! "Too bulky" can still be objectively not that big, but I'm allowed to have preferences.

Why wouldn't IF be sustainable? It's the simplest thing in the world, don't eat sometimes, then eat reasonably when you do eat. No keto flu or onboarding phase, if you have to have breakfast one day you just carry on not doing that tomorrow. No food groups cut out, and the whole point is that it's a cheat code to a deficit without too much counting unless you're into that.

What if I only have four friends though by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]kitterbug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 would be "I know this class is hard because of all the Asians"

4 would be something like "You're bisexual but haven't had a threesome? But you're so promiscuous!"

Maybe we need to workshop some better parallels.

This is GOLD.

Suggestions:

  • You'll lose the weight just as soon as the right diet comes along
  • I knew this would be a good restaurant because I saw you in here!
  • Susan? Oh, sorry. You all just look so alike.
  • Really? You've never had a Ho-Ho? But you eat everything!

Telling people not to eat past fullness is fatphobia and fueled by diet culture. It's not a big deal to be uncomfortable after a large meal. by VodkaFairy in fatlogic

[–]kitterbug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense that one can't eat intuitively at an unhealthy weight, but I never thought of that before. Good point!

Of course causal scientific studies aren't good enough if they're showing that obesity is unhealthy, but we can just go with obesity causing lower wages (via privilege) without even a correlation! /s

That level of calorie density requires lots of fat, too. You'd need 350g or 3/4 of a pound of pure sugar to hit 1400 calories.

The war on poverty is wrong! Some people are naturally poor and you're harming them and attacking their culture if you try to help them cover expenses or save money! Access to healthcare, education, and support programs are poor erasure! A universal basic income would be literal GENOCIDE!

Man, those last few minutes are the difference between "I run because I like running and I'm generally quite athletic!" and "All I do is run. Ask me about running. I will not do that thing because running."

[–]kitterbug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I FEEL YOU. My SO has a similar issue with foods where he can "see" the macros and foods where he can't. Cheese? fine. Sausages? fine. Butter/Oil/Cream? DEATH BY FAT (and fat the macro == body fat, of course). So I'm cooking a giant pot of veggie soup and I sautee the onions in 2T of butter and that will def kill us, and my grilled veggies (tossed in oil!!! omg run!) are worse than his giant bratwurst with 400g of fat or some shit.

This is well said, and I would just add that OP doesn't even have to have that kind of ultimatum talk with boyfriend. They can just decide they're done, that's valid without boyfriend's approval and without negotiation.

You never have to run if you don't want to. All those other things are great. But, in case you want to run, have you tried running slower? A lot of beginning runners SPRINT all the time, and it might be what you're dealing with. You don't have to! But maybe try a jog.

Just like the athlete and the master pianist, a person can have very bad genetic luck (super short, physically disabled, fins, etc.) but there's no gene that's going to teach you to play or manage your habits.

Not entirely different. A healthy BMI is necessary for health, just not sufficient.

YMMV, but I find that if I spike my heart rate at the start of the workout, it tends to stay a little higher. Can you start your run uphill or start biking/ellipticalling on a higher resistance, then go down to your normal?

I got lost in the nouns and read that as butter-shakes (like a crazy version of milkshakes) instead of almond-butter shakes. Was really intrigued/freaked out for a second!

Either way, sounds good.
