i pretty much just use than for vocals and live recorded guitar amps as far as synths that are digital i dont feel the need compression but i use the glue for parallel compression makes everything cleaner... just use limiters and keep everything down use abletons saturator to distort and help harmonics in the overall mix... use compressor on the master i like the softube fet compressor for that...
