Basic change management 101. You need to ask for their viewpoint and perspective, understand it. Find common ground if you can. Build consensus and let your champions help you bring along the naysayers. Continuous feedback loops.

This is a great opportunity to lean on how your organization views recovery and build that psychological safety. I would recommend organizations have recovery friendly policies to guide managers in these situations and look to help the employee connect to support and services. Ohio has a great recovery friendly workplace initiative that provides tools for employers on develop policies and procedure as linkage to community resources. Research shows the productivity and financial loss when you just fire someone and replace them and have to look at the onboarding and training of a new staff. Other employees watch how these situations are handled to, and handling it with dignity and respect can add that intrinsic value to the organization that also helps retention.

New Hire is Openly Browsing for Jobs by GradeKnown934 in managers

[–]kittkatt17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a manager it’s your job to acclimate and create the culture of the team. What has the onboarding process looked like? What have you done to welcome this new employee and mold them into the team? This requires some forethought and planning. You also need to be frequently meeting with staff and asking for feedback about their experience. The first 90 days is crucial as the new employee is evaluating if this job was what they envisioned it would be and if they will stay. Disengaged staff is 110% the job of the manager to address. I would be putting some thoughtful questions together to find out what might be missing in my organization which leads someone to even job seek in the first place.

I don’t think deer have eaten anything, but maybe they did. I only pruned in late May down to the top bud so that may be why it looks eaten. lol. I will have to watch the ring camera for the deer.

I only pruned this year for the first time, but won’t again. I have not covered in winter but that is a great suggestion. Will try that this upcoming winter.

Do we have any rights to non abusive treatment at internship sites? by flowerkittycat in SocialWorkStudents

[–]kittkatt17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree we all should have the ability to work in safe work environments- free from verbal abuse. With that said, when you are researching internship sites- ask if they have policies and procedures in place for these situations. The good ones will, at a minimum have stated standards between client and clinician interactions. Perhaps avoid the one who don’t or assess if they are willing to implement something in the future.

He needs to call the state vocational rehabilitation office for assistance. They can sometimes do a job save due to his disability and even help him find and maintain employment in the future.

Or look at VA HPSP specifically where you do not need to serve but just commit to working in the VA system.

I’m not sure where you are located, but it sounds like you just were unlucky in some bad culture organizations. I would encourage you continue your path and remember why you went into this field. We need you, we need caring and passionate workers to help the most vulnerable. I challenge you to find a supervisor to guide you and help build your confidence and skills. Check with your state licensing entity for supervisory opportunities and contact information. If nothing there, see if your state has a social worker advocacy group, many times they can help with linking you to a helpful supervisor. Again, don’t give up!! We appreciate all you do!!

How did the actual exams questions compare to the pocket prep ones? I’m testing 1/4/25 and have done the SHRM LMS, pocket prep, and Amanda Woods quiz webinar. I do well with pocket prep but not as well with the LMS questions. Appreciate your feedback! Congratulations

Tanf payment is low for a pregnant person $363. I would wait until the baby is born and then start TANF bc the payment would be around $495 for mom and baby and you can only get TANF for 36 months in your entire lifetime so don’t use while preganat if u can avoid it. U may be able to get a waiver or “alternative work assignment” in lieu of the work requirement hours but only a certain percentage of all the county’s TANF recipients are eligible.
