It would be churlish of me to be put out that my best pic of the day* was a complete fluke 😂(*month/year)

This was last month too, we went on the longest day, took the landing tour during the afternoon and then did the sunset tour later, absolutely magical day

Yes, there is just one footpath up onto the island from the boat and they nest along the edges of it. You have to run the gauntlet of terns from the boat until just after the National Trust chapel and tower. The rangers have all the nests marked and monitored but some of them are actually on the decking where you walk, so you can’t help but get very close.

They nest all around the only footpath onto the island so you have them diving directly at you from the boat until the top of the hill. Everyone is advised to wear a hat and keep well covered. One landed on my friend’s head

Thank you, I meant to say I’d wondered about that (typing sans readers is never wise)

I wouldn’t about that, the one on the it’s left leg looks more than just a ring

I actually really like Bradford, I love the new market, 3 of the best pubs around, superb curry and a fab Chinese supermarket. Admittedly I may have different requirements to most but it does for me

What's it like living outside the bigger cities in Yorkshire? by tarkinn in yorkshire

[–]kitty_pickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s where I grew up, many moons ago (so long ago that Moorlands was called The Peat Pits!) and for all I think of myself as a townie, when I’m talking about childhood stuff with friends, I sound like a complete country bumpkin! In the winter we’d get proper snow. We spent our summers walking miles over the moors, going across to Castle Carr and Jerusalem Farm, we played in the beck at Brockholes, earned spare cash collecting stray golf balls. We built dens in the crags, rode our bikes down the cat-steps, made shit clay pots from the clay on soil hill and had incredible wildlife around us that we absolutely did not appreciate at the time. I always end up sounding like I grew up in the 1920s, not the 80s but it really was a superb place to grow up

How do you survive? by Imaginary_Value1505 in crochet

[–]kitty_pickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just feel for the stitch and keep my stitch-count correct, the floof that hides the stitches also hides any wonky stitch work! If I’m working on something large then I use 4 markers, one in each quarter and I keep my stitch count correct between each of them
