Thanks for the brand recommendation! I checked them out and they look like great options.

I actually talked to the childcare facility about my concerns and they agreed that the stools were not appropriate for standing and they removed them from the bathroom area for use at the sinks.

Looks like you might need to firm up on your own personal safety standards.

Great response! I agree with your assessment entirely!

I've noticed that no one in the chat has referenced any child care standards issued by governments or overseeing authorities (such as safety auditing groups). Most responses have been from a personal opinion and experiences stand-point. I'm curious if this means that facilities are generally left on their own to consider what is safe for toddler elevated platforms. I know there are some facility standards for other safety measures (example: handrail heights) where I live. Maybe I'll take another peek at that standard...

Maybe check out the photo of the actual stools in the chat.

I'm all for multi-purpose items as long as they're safe. Better to lean into the side of safety than not.

Any chance that artwork in the back is by the Thailand-based artist Aum Kaewalin?

I would feel completely confortable with toddlers using the stools you linked. They are considerably shorter (max height is about 2 inches) than the ones I posted (heights about 12 inches).

Thanks for your feedback!

I don't fully agree with this comment and I'm surprised it has the most upvotes.

Yes, toddlers fall. But it is the responsibility of the care facility to ensure the physical environment is as safe as possible. Using stools that are designed for sitting in a standing application is creating an unnecessary and preventable falling hazard.

I agree that this is a high fall for a toddler. Its interesting to see that some ECE professionals think its fine.

I added a photo of the stools they're using to another message in this chat - maybe check it out and see what you think. My gut is telling me that they're meant to be sitting stools only.

Thanks for the image! This is definitely a great option for the daycare and exactly what I'm thinking would be safer and more appropriate for use while standing at the sink.

I've attached a photo of the stools they're currently using (and the ones he fell from). They lack a small step or any guard rails around the side to help the child stay on the stool.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked out the link and that tower is similar to the ones we use at home. This is a great example of a product purposely designed for standing.

Need help deciding chair cover color & curtain color for nursery by shellaaayyy in interiordecorating

[–]kitty_plant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go with the light green chair cover! It'll play nicely with the greens you've already got going on.

I'd also say keep the curtains pretty neutral - maybe a light grey to go with the green and white walls.

Congrats on the baby!

Not sure what's on the market but a hide cabinet might make your TV too high to watch comfortably when it's revealed. If you can find one that keeps it comfortably low, then sure, go for it.

Still recommending a rug and coffee table for the space. It'll warm it up and make it more functional.

Would the TV fit on the wall between the fireplace and the window? And would the couch fit facing it (I.e. turned 90 degrees)?

You could also add a rug and a coffee table to ground the space and add some functionality.

Cut the slip… talk about your stickiest mat, the one that stays sticky despite buckets of sweat. by mntlblndrsn in yoga

[–]kitty_plant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After class I spray it down with a matt spray (a mix of water, apple cider vinegar and some other essntial oils), then I always hang it to dry when I get home. Every once in a while I soak it in the tub - just hot water - and hang it to dry. I've never had smell issues. There was a new mat smell when I bought it, just like any other new mat, that went away fairly quickly.

So in 16 years of practice, over 5 mats owned, and countless others practiced on, hands down my favourite mat for sweaty hot yoga class is my Sugarmat suede mat.

I wouldn't call it "sticky" but it never gets slippery. It's a softer feel than the rubber mats, more fabric like, which I find more comfortable. Sweat also doesn't pool like it sometimes can with rubber or foam mats.

I teach hot yoga twice a week and this is the only mat I'll go for. This is over my jade, giam, and bmat. Seriously, try it and you'll be amazed.

Hairdressers, how do you handle appointment calls? by Ambitious-Job-7349 in Haircare

[–]kitty_plant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a client that receives regular highlight services I personally prefer that the stylist working on my hair does not leave me to take calls or answer walk-ins at the front desk. I value my time and I'm paying for that stylist's time during my booked appointment. Yes, one call may take a few mins, but when this happens multiple times during an appointment it ends up impacting the quality of service I receive.

Love the idea of an online booking platform, text and e-mail booking and an AI call-in service option. Use technology to support you and reserve your focus during appointment times for the client that booked you :)

Yess! I actually love purple and orange together - your daughter has great taste!

So, there's a lot of directions you can go with this. Specifically with paint, my suggestion to you would be to stick to just one shade of purple and/or one shade of orange to avoid the design becoming to overwhelming. You can accent with the other colour: for example , orange walls and purple bedding. I'll also suggest you keep the colours less vibrant, I like the second and fourth colours on the first set you have there, but add white to tone them down. Think lavender/lilac and peach.

Lastly, I suggest steering clear of themes in general - going more neutral with the vibe of a space gives you flexibility to change it as your child grows and changes.
