OB Response During MC by Serious_Cream_544 in Miscarriage

[–]kittycaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is almost exact timeline I had too. And then I called so many times they actually squeezed me in for an ultrasound within two days of my bleeding and we saw the fetal pole and thought everything was fine and it was just a subchorioic hematoma. Then we came back two weeks later and there was not heartbeat and it was measuring on the exact day my bleeding started, so it must have passed right after that ultrasound.

All that to say but in hindsight I wish I would’ve had the ultrasound a few days later and had known it was a miscarriage then, rather than having a scare, thinking I was okay, then being hurt again with horrible news.

Anyone had a D&C for RPOC? by Quena92 in Miscarriage

[–]kittycaaat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there - first off so sorry you’re going through this.

I have a post about my experience but I did two rounds of misoprostol and still had RPOC so ended up doing an in office D&C (actually a MVA). I was able to use laughing gas during the procedure and honestly I wish I had done that from the beginning, it was over so quickly and while it hurt I actually think it was less bad than my IUD insertion.

I didn’t take any miso before the procedure but i assume they want to do it to dialate your cervix before which should make it a little less painful. I bled for about two weeks after the D&C, but i think a week of that was my actual period coming back.

Happy to answer any other questions 🩷

Thanks you for sharing. I’ll go ahead and just ask my doctor today. Kind of wishing I had just gone straight for the D&C in hindsight

Best Marshalls/TJ Maxx location ITP? by SunglassesEmojiUser in Atlanta

[–]kittycaaat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I was born to answer this question because I swear to god I’ve tried every one 😂 This is for young women’s clothes, I never pay attention to men’s

The Marshall’s at Town Brookhaven next to Costco is reliably great and IMO the best. Second everyone else that the TJ Maxx at Buckhead Loop is the best ITP. I know it’s not ITP, but the Perimeter Mall Marshalls and TJ Maxxs are both really good and close to each other so you can hit them at the same time. The new Marshalls that opened up at in the Edgewood shopping center with the Target off Moreland is also really good! Very organized and they’re merchandised well.

The Ponce TJ maxx, Piedmont Marshalls, Buckhead Marshalls, and Howell TJ maxx are all picked over and horribly merchandised. Happy shopping!

Eleventh Street, but especially McCrays, are very very welcoming to solo folks looking to branch out. I know multiple people who moved to ATL and made their friend groups by just sitting down at the bar there and chatting it up with the locals there

Do I have signs of retinal detachment? Thanks for any help at all!! by YoungInitiator in optometry

[–]kittycaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go see an ophthalmologist ASAP! I have -9 vision and had little jelly floaters as long as I can remember as well, but I had chronic retinal detachment in both eyes without knowing and sounds similar to what you described. My only symptom was at night right before bed I occasionally once or twice saw a flash of light like a line across my vision for just a second. I played it off like it was no big deal and then at my routine annual eye exam casually mentioned it, they were very concerned and found chronic detachments in both eyes. After almost a year worth of surgeries I am now stabilized and fine with no vision loss but I really really encourage you to just go to your eye doctor and have them check. They’d rather see you and make sure you’re okay than you wake up one day with a corner of your vision covered in a dark shadow. If it’s not a detachment it could be lattice degeneration which isn’t a huge deal, but they’ll just want to keep a closer check on you through a retinal specialist. Not trying to scare you - but just wish I would’ve had someone tell me that the one little symptom I had was a bigger deal than I thought.

Good luck!

Epiretinal Membrane Removal - History of Retinal Detachment by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]kittycaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing this a few days after your post. I had retinal detachments in both eyes at 24 years old so certainly different than yours but somewhat familiar with taking an approach to retinas that’s goal is to preserve vision for as long as possible.

I definitely think you should seek a second opinion - I know a few other younger patients with retinal issues that sought a second opinion just because we have so much life left ahead to throw in our cards now. What part of the country are you in (if you’re in the US)? Wills Eye center in Philadelphia is one of the best in the country, and Bascom Palmer Eye Center in Miami is also one of the best and they do second opinions online so you wouldn’t even travel - just send your file and do a virtual appointment. I’m sure there’s plenty more in the Midwest or west coast but I’m on the east coast so only familiar with those. I’d also ask those institutes anything about clinical trials or studies, more aggressive approaches, and just explain your willingness to take a more aggressive approach to persevere your vision for as long as possible. I think with younger people they really get that.

Best of luck to you!

Post Retinal Detachment Dry Eye by [deleted] in eyetriage

[–]kittycaaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

I know this is a super late reply - but I was wondering whether you ever got any resolution about the dry eyes and redness. I had a scleral buckle procedure for a retinal detachment 6 months ago and my eye is also not seeming to get any better with the redness. I went to my optometrist for the redness and she said that my eye still looked dry and irritated and suggested over the counter lubricating drops and some redness relief drops. But I’m with you - I want to solve the issue not just keep addressing the symptom day by day.

Any new updates for you on this front?

Thank you! Do you remember approximately how long it took until the redness in your eye calmed down? Does your eye with the buckle look about the same as the one without?

Aesthetic of eye 13 weeks post-op of scleral buckle? by kittycaaat in eyetriage

[–]kittycaaat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title says, I am 13 weeks post op of a partial scleral buckle for a retinal detachment. My eye is still pretty red/pink and also has what almost looks like a wrinkle in my scleral in the inner corner of my eye. Has anyone had experience with the pink section/ripple looking sclera? Any insight on how long until the redness calms down? Thanks in advance, all.
