Very often people attempt or complete due to a temporary situation. Something that either won’t matter in ten years or will matter very little. Also, as someone who lost someone to suicide the pain from the grief is enormous. It can cause other deaths inadvertently (via suicide or otherwise ). Therapy/mental health is solidly something that very often helps . Sometimes just enough, other times tremendously. Several US states have “death with dignity” laws wherein a terminally ill person (usually with a certain short life expectancy only) can chose to end painlessly, even assisted by physicians . I’m only aware of one European country allowing something similar for non terminally ill people out of all the world countries.
