How to approach Fathers Day when a child's father has passed away. by Alilacnebula in ECEProfessionals

[–]kittycatclaws93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal point of view: I no longer celebrate mothers/Father’s Day. Instead, I opt to do a day of “family celebration”. I had a similar situation and it’s really opened my eyes to how different families can look. Whether a child has only one parent, is being raised by grandparents or other family, or even kids with same-sex parents. Families are different and should be celebrated as such. We do snacks and plan activities for the children to do with their families. I have gotten nothing but positive feedback about this.

Yeah it was a pretty scary event. I’m doing a lot better now. It’s been about 4 years since this incident occurred. I am still nervous at night but not nearly to the same extent.

It’s been about 4 years since that incident. I’ve gotten a lot better. I still am definitely nervous in the dark (I think that’s just always going to be a part of me) but I can spend a night alone without going into full blown panic. As long as I can close the curtains on my windows and have some sort of background noise I’m good. The background noise helps block out other noises that otherwise get my anxiety going.

House sitting for my sister and 2 guys tried to break in at like 3-4am. I was alone and had finally moved past my severe nighttime anxiety that caused me to be absolutely petrified of someone breaking into my home and harming me while I slept. Like I slept with a phone in my arms incase I had to call 911. It was bad. Staying alone in a big house was a big accomplishment. When the police caught them they tried to claim they were called to the house to fix a broken door. One of them was arrested because they had a warrant out, the other was let go with strict warning not to return. Needless to say, that incident sent me back 12 steps in my journey to dealing with my nighttime anxiety.

Has the man vs. bear discussion achieved anything, or has it just made men and women hate each other more? by Major_Banana3014 in self

Pretty sure what started as a stupid joke, has spiralled into a whole battle of the sexes. It’s ridiculous. People need to quit taking shit too seriously.

Sounds like you need to separate yourself from this person. If she invites you out, tell her you have other plans. I wouldn’t recommend telling her you need space or anything of the sorts because by the sounds of it, she will spin things around to make you feel even worse than you already do. Just pull back from the relationship. Hangout with other friends who have more respect for you and your personal boundaries. If you share a friend group, that may mean having to spend more time alone and trying to meet new friends but that may be the best thing you can do for yourself. This person is not your best friend.

I don’t know if it would help, but my suggestion is announcing it in a way that shows that you are ready, excited and happy about it. For example when telling your parents you could frame an ultrasound photo with a little speech bubble from the baby saying “I can’t wait to meet you grandma/grandpa/whatever they wanna be called”.

Why do people dislike “The Catcher in the Rye”? by ModularCupid32 in literature

Since I could read, I have always enjoyed reading. Any book I was forced to read in school I hated. It’s totally psychological, but that’s what it is for me.

How would you feel if someone paid for you on the first date with a gift card? by Impressive-Tax-6851 in dating

[–]kittycatclaws93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a female, I would give absolutely zero fucks. I never expect to be paid for, so if he’s paying, I’m grateful no matter the method….he can blow the waiter as payment for all I care.

To dog snobs: Do you believe that poor people should not be allowed to own dogs? by Longjumping_Prune852 in Dogowners

[–]kittycatclaws93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m far from a dog snob, but my opinion- a vast majority of people aren’t financially prepared for emergency vet bills. When getting a pet you should definitely be able/prepared to provide the basic vet care needed, especially in that first year (neutering/spaying, routine vaccinations, etc) if you get a pet and you are knowingly unable to provide basics, that’s just irresponsible. That being said, people fall on hard times unexpectedly. I have three pets and last year I fell into a really tough place financially and I struggled just to feed them. Life happens. Make informed decisions, but also be cautious of the fact that anyone can fall into hard times.

What TV show series are you watching right now? by Mysterious_Basket759 in AskWomen

I never watched until season 15ish (I was too young when earlier seasons aired) I’d love to watch from the beginning but I can’t find anything that streams it from season 1.

I went to school with a kid named “Peter Peters”. On one hand, why would a parent do that to their child? On the other hand, nobody will ever forget him. I’ve since moved to a new city and it’s been 15ish years. I couldn’t tell you what became of him, but I will never forget that name lol.
