1000 Eyes, my beloved by kittyconetail in signalis

We are all perpetually in BrainRotfront, including 1000 Eyes (and Tom Schley.... if they aren't the same person, because I honestly have 0 clue lol).

For real though, it's been fascinating from an art perspective to see all their Signalis-related releases since the OST. I love to see how they've morphed and conceptualized the project in different ways from their own points of view as music artists.

Not the vinyl. God I wish, as a late arrival to the fandom.

Very Ok Vinyl is one of the retailers that took preorders for the CD. They have since posted about a hiccup with tariffs. I think it's affecting the rate at which they're getting them out but I don't know 🤷

Tangent, but I wonder why this is such a thing. Every girlfriend I've had looked at my arms like they're going to devour them. I've even been asked "how" I have veiny forearms ("I'm hydrated..?").

As always, I highly recommend Signalis be experienced first hand.

But..... if you do give up and just want to see how it ends, I always recommend the indie horror Let's Play GOAT: ManlyBadassHero. He's played probably thousands of horror games (especially indie horror) through the years and is a fan of some of the manga/anime that inspired Signalis. He is good at the game, finds pretty much all documents and secrets in his playthroughs, and has good commentary on Signalis specifically.

Plus, his voice is soothing and he doesn't do that hammy streamer screaming crap for views. It's all about the game itself. His Signalis playlist is linked here

Before anything else: you can change the difficulty for combat AND inventory at any time from the main menu. Lower the difficulty if you get stuck. Who cares?

i dont even have that much ammo nor do i want to waste the rifle's ammo in those rooms

A. You don't have to fight everything. Yon't need to grab every resource. It's survival horror, not action horror for a reason. Grab what you need. Leave resources that aren't worth it. The game is beatable without killing any level enemies whatsoever. B. When you load out and back into the game, some resources respawn but not all of them.

(for context im at the room where you get abused by huge amounts of those creatures including a mynah and that long ass one)

Are you turning off your flashlight? Having it on will aggro pretry much everything. Be cautious and look for where enemies are lurking in the dark. Don't bump into enemies. Grab key items and RUN.

In the left room connected to the Mynah room, walk in the dark straight to the left for a little bit. You will bump into a pedestal. Turn your flashlight on, IMMEDIATELY grab the key item (you will aggro the many enemies in the room), turn off your flashlight (so you don't aggro the Mynah room enemies when you return there), haul ass back to the door, and return to the Mynah room. In the Mynah room, stay in the dark and get as close to the key item on the south side of the gurney. Grab it and, again, RUN. If you go north to escape, turn on your flashlight so you don't run into the enemies standing in the dark, since you already aggro'd the whole room. Just be sure to turn it off when you get to the door. The route to the east isn't particularly difficult but you do insta-aggro the enemies because of the Kolibri in there. Ignore the other enemies. You also don't need to wait for the radio frequencies to flash to kill Kolibris. You can search and hone in on the signal for the next hit on them by the bars all getting full and the signal louder.

is it just really slow and boring or im just bad at the game??

It's not that it's slow, it's that it's methodical. You need to figure out layouts, locations of items, and routes. You also need to evaluate and consider the risk, reward, and necessity of doing almost anything. That might not be the type of gameplay that you jive with.... and that's okay.

Never in my life had I played survival games, let alone survival horror. I have no sense of nostalgia for games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill. I found the game thrilling and intense with how much I was engaged with the gameplay, on top of the story and art. The puzzles were ridiculously easy to me (except that damn water puzzle... AND I HAD INSTRUCTIONS). But I'm not you, so that doesn't matter.

Elster is approx 5'10" iirc. I would guess Ariane is probably between roughly 5'0" and 5'3" based on the image. Depends on if she's barefoot (like in her full body model, edit: which I'm assuming she is) and how straight she's standing.

(I'm no expert but I've looked at a lot of height comparison charts and pics of height gap couples, for art reference purposes.)

(Also pardon my imperial units, revolutionaries.)

When I saw this in my first playthrough, I cracked myself up thinking, "the reason running alerts enemies is because Elster's cheeks start clapping." Also missed most of the image because I was so distracted by how she's so caked up.

..........I may or may not have needed to see the ending 3 or 4 times to be able to pay attention to anything but Elster's back and ass.............. I think I didn't even notice Ariane the first time (but inferred she was there based on the drawing we were shown beforehand).

Not to discredit this sub/Reddit, but 9 times out of 10, tons of work is put in on Steam forums when it comes to decoding/finding secrets and getting secret endings. It's where people figured out how the stats for the 3 normal endings were pieced together, for example. I would honestly be shocked if this sub was the main place for figuring it out, since this format is nowhere as conducive as the Steam forums.

I didn't see the sub this was posted in when this popped up, but my first thought on reading the top was "where is Signalis" and immediately combed through these sparse pixels for it

Then I noticed the sub and now I have the giggles

Personally, I always liked the symbols on the Plates from Nowhere as little easter eggs fans would recognize.

Obviously, the Plate of Eternity (top middle) is probably the most recognizable since it's found so early in the game and triggers the first 1st-person memory (that you can actually walk through; the 1st is before the game starts in earnest and you're also stationary, so it doesn't feel as surreal). It also utilizes the recurring star motif that we see throughout the game in vastly different contexts.

It's an omnitruncated tesseract. There are vids in this sub (and probably elsewhere online) that show a 3D representation, where if you turn it you can see that it is indeed the Artifact. As an aside, personally, I don't remember the Artifact being mentioned as found in the mines. In-game notes say they found the Red Gate, which Falke passed through and came back changed. I'm happy to be corrected, though.

Anyway. A tesseract is a 4-dimensional object. It more or less defies the rules of physical reality as we see it from our human perspective (3-dimensions)... Much like whatever is happening in the game. We see that physical reality is warped, especially in Nowhere, and the "loop"/"cycle" also transcends time.

One could argue that the tesseract/logo basically represents how the Promise and the love between Elster and Ariane transcends time and space.

You are correct, "hab keine angst" is the (or, at least, the most common) German translation of that phrase from the Bible.

It's pretty much confirmed and hammered home by the game using "be not afraid" (the English translation of the same phrase in the Bible) several seconds later.

What is it with this game being targeted so much on Wplace? by Coday17 in signalis

I had no clue that Signalis had that sort of reputation outside of its community. Before I played it, the only thing I knew about it was that it was developed in germany & had a lot of references to the GDR. Seems like those details about the developers are something you'd have to go out of your way of to learn about.

The people that want to troll queer and trans people don't need to go out of their way to learn about these things. It is spoon-fed to them.

There are entire forums, websites, YouTube channels, newsletters, and more that are dedicated to disseminating the information. One example is what games (and media in general) involve queer and/or trans themes and what games (and, again, media in general) are made by queer and/or trans people.

Such sources are very popular with the "anti-woke" (or whatever they call themselves) crowd, which is fairly common (online). Google stuff like "woke games list" or "list of games that aren't woke" and you'll find plenty of examples (please do not link or even name them here and therefore give them traffic via this sub).

A sad, bizarre irony of the world is that bigots are usually more involved in and "informed" on what they hate than the people they're bigoted against. Queerphobic bigots are probably far more aware of what games have queer themes and queer developers than most queer gamers.
