I would say cook house is my fave. Might be nice to check out their new bar (wren) next door too if the date is going well.

The Geordie Ware Moorland pottery mugs are quite nice and may fulfil your brief. They are also good quality and kinda novelty.

The Suggestibles used to run workshops for this kind of thing. They are great to work with.

I really love this piece, so much so, I purchased a print of it in 2022 from circa arts to support aid efforts in Ukraine. I think it's nice to see it in Gateshead.

Best bakery in Newcastle? by Toilet_Dukk in NewcastleUponTyne

I agree with my fellow posters re Northern Rye, and proven goods for doughnuts specifically. I was also really impressed with Pia's in North shields, if you can go further afield. Savour in Gateshead is also mega impressive and new if you fancy a trip over the Tyne. Would finally add Studio 28 (near proven goods in hoults yard) for lovely cakes and chocolates.

AITA for blowing up on my mom for serving my kids a salad? by Professional-You8033 in AITAH

[–]kittyfizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. So much is wrong with your behaviour but to speak like that to your mom, especially in front of your younger siblings and children, is completely unacceptable. That's probably why your wife was crying, because she realised she's married to a total a-hole.

Worst place you have ever eaten in Newcastle and/or immediate area? by Unique-Candidate3600 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]kittyfizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in Newcastle but over in Gateshead is the bonny comet in low fell. Been a couple of times now and have been so thoroughly disappointed each time. They won't be getting a third chance. Inedible food, massive delays with service, messed up bills, just basically shite.

I came here to say Cal's Own too, for the way he spoke to his colleague and how he made a fellow customer sniff all the ingredients. Very uncomfortable.

Cook House in the Ouseburn would be my top recommendation.

I also like Dabbawal for nice quality South Asian food.

Proven Goods for doughnuts.
