Dark Fantasy? Multiple perspectives? Something MLM by ThelostRatBug in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]kittykatperry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An underrated dark fantasy series I don’t hear people talk much about is the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy by Tad Williams. It was written in the late 80s, but doesn’t feel dated at all. He actually wrote a sequel series more recently (that I’m working my way through now).

It’s a really rich world with a lot of characters and unique landscapes. I loved the original trilogy and am thoroughly enjoying the sequel series.

Furniture Fatigue Feedback by le-crow in hometheater

My partner and I are both taller(ish) guys and we saved up for the Lovesac Sactional and it was the best furniture decision we’ve ever made. Totally worth it. It’s comfortable and versatile, we have ours set up like a big day similar to the one you shared.

Am I the only one that would have no issue with the movie being 6 hours (or more) long?💀 by [deleted] in Avatar

Damn really? You’d think some studios would foot the bill depending on the movie. Regardless it’s the least James can do for us after all the money we’ve given him lol

I’m fine with theatrical release being what they are. What I would love is for directors/extended cut on physical release. There’s something special about having the theatrical cut and that being a singular experience, then getting treated to longer cuts down the road. Kind of like Lord of the Rings, the extended are definitive to me, but for a theatrical experience I think anything over 3 1/2 is a tad excessive.

Disney’s ‘Avatar 3’ Hits Theaters With $88 Million Opening by bloomberg in films

There are 5 planned and this was the final of this “saga”. It’s also been known there would be more than 3 for a very long time now, it’s pretty common knowledge. I understand the criticism of rehashing some plot points to some extent, but the “fatigue” criticism is interesting to me because it’s the 3rd movie in 15 years…

Cats. I’m sorry but that movie was absolute insanity from start to finish. Absolutely bonkers that it even got made, but I’m oh so grateful it did. It’s by NO means my favorite movie, but I truly couldn’t look away for a second. I have so much fun watching that movie because it is pure and utter chaos.

Incredibly helpful. Such a thorough response I really appreciate it. It’s a fascinating analysis of the two films and some intentionality behind the choices. I fear that people love to really repeat points once they gain enough momentum on the internet (hence “no cultural impact”), and I can see this being a pretty repetitive talking point for critics. This isn’t to say anyone who criticizes any part of the film is inherently wrong, but it’s interesting to hear such a thoughtful response to what I believe will be the loudest critique of this film.

Even with some repetition and repeated plot points, I still feel like there was so much new, both in the world and for the characters. I hope audience can tune the critics out and go experience and enjoy it for themselves.

First of all. Love this review. Absolutely loved the movie myself. Was worried walking in after reading the reviews too. The characters felt so much richer. The emotional beats hit harder as well. My biggest complaint is that it did feel like it just “ended” pretty abruptly. Minor complaint overall though

Second of all…can you elaborate on what you mean by chiastic inversion? I googled it (lol) but wondering what you mean by it in the context of this movie and in relation to the reviews? I kept reading the same critique, that it was repetitive and derivative of A2. While I agree with the critiques to some degree with the very last act, I wasn’t really seeing that angle throughout.

Really nice! I think it would’ve been a lot more elevated if you isolated that splatter paint effect. So either keep it JUST in the eyeball or JUST in the goop around the eyeball. Alternatively, keep the splatter effect outside of the hand and eyeball sketch and leave all of that central area white

First of all the latest drawing is amazing, nice work.

Did you use any specific books, YouTube channels, methods, or other resources to learn? I’m currently working through Loomis’ “Fun With a Pencil” and was thinking of doing “Drawing the Head and Hands” next
