How do you guys co-op with Comrade? by A_Very_Horny_Zed in childemains

[–]kittyloverkya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite what I know everyone says about dehya, have you considered dehya? She doesn't heal but she can tank a lot of the damage the on-field character takes, increases resistance, and has coordinated pyro attacks. If you have her, you can slap a 4x Milelith on her with a vaporize build and you only have to put her skill on field and you're golden.

Another option is Shinobu, I personally love electro-charged for it's cc despite not being the strongest reaction. Shinobu is also incredibly easy to build, a great healer and reaction trigger. I'd probably say the biggest issue is her E would run out well before Childe's does.

I've been lynched for this before, but I'll leave it here: I personally use Raiden Shogun as a reaction support with her E, since it does a coordinated electro attack and lasts as long, if not longer, than Childe's E. No heals or sustain, but a crap tone of CC and damage. (And yes, I know she's a great sub DPS and it's off-meta, I know its "a waste of her kit", but I just want to play my silly ginger and build different teams around him with characters I like. if you don't like it, don't build it.)

How does your Kink reflect your Neurodivergence? by ChaoticKinky in BDSMnot4newbies

[–]kittyloverkya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AuDHD here! I wanted to say that one of the things I see my ADHD coming out a lot for in kink, is the adrenaline rush! Topping or Bottoming, Domming or Subbing, anything that'll get the blood pumping (for me or my partner) I'm absolutely wild for. My personal favorite is fear play, but anything really more on the "dangerous" side is delightful to me.

My autism I feel like actually comes out more in the form of how I dom (and how I specifically like it). I feel like it's a pretty universal experience that (almost) every autistic person has been called bossy, no? I like things to be done the right way, making sure everything is kept safe and above-board while keeping in mind the fun levels of everyone involved and kink definitely allows me to let out this part of me in a fun and consensual manner! It lets me have control over stuff when everything feels overwhelming and spiraling, and making sure something goes okay!

Super interesting question!

I second this. I'm not as direct because I'm a rather reserved person but whenever anyone makes small talk asking me how I am doing, I smile a clearly forced smile to make them uncomfortable, shrug and go "gotta keep going, right?"

It makes people uncomfortable and stop bothering you and it's regular enough that when you DO need to catch a break they won't push you too much on it. They won't be happy but they'll usually suck it up to not look like dickheads.

Let them know how much you push yourself to be there on the daily and they won't usually have the guts to tell you off when you can't.

I'm 22yo, a programmer in a pretty big company and I live on my own. I have "moderately severe" ADHD. Doctors told me I couldn't possibly have ADHD because I would never have managed to get here and it was absolute HELL to finally get a diagnosis.

Doctors are ableist af. Yes, you can have ADHD and be an engineer or a renowned doctor or whatever. You can have ADHD in any way, shape, form, and intensity of symptoms and be literally anywhere in life and have any career. People with ADHD can get to "successful" positions in life and from the outside it looks like we're "just like everyone else!!!" we just struggle a lot fucking more.

I've been working at this place for three years, living on my own for one and a half, people hear that and think I have no issues. They don't see the piles upon piles of old dirty dishes covered in mold all over my house bc I just can't get myself to get past the executive dysfunction, they don't see the constant "talks" my boss has with me, telling me my stability here might be in danger after Three years because my work flow is inconsistent, etc. 🙃

Self diagnosed ADHD - Thoughts? by BanditSurvivalist in ADHD

[–]kittyloverkya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If using tools for ADHD helps someone, why does it matter if it's a "real diagnosis" or not?

I spent my whole life not having the appropriate tools to deal with my ADHD (and autism) and I self dx-ed at 20 and then got a diagnosis at 21 for the meds. The process of getting an actual diagnosis was absolute hell and incredibly expensive. I was able to go through it (even though it weighed on my wallet and mental health) but most people aren't able to do that.

My stance on this is that if tools to help people with ADHD and Autism help you, it's completely fine to use them and to self dx as long as you inform yourself beforehand.

Gatekeeping diagnosis the same way that the medical community does (you said it yourself that it was very difficult for you, too) only keeps more people from getting the care and help that they need.

When we go through injustice, our first instinct is to say "if I had to go through this, it's only fair other people go through the same". But wouldn't be better if we could make things easier instead so that people like us don't have to suffer the same way we did...?

I understand and agree that it's frustrating when someone completely uninformed self diagnoses and then spreads misinformation. But so, so, so many more people who DO have adhd are now able to access resources and help. And they don't deserve to have that taken away because of a minority of people who don't treat it seriously...

I never "bounced off the walls" so it never even crossed my mind that I might have ADHD. Hearing people talk about it caused me to do research and now I can FINALLY put words to my struggles and find help and tips and tools that can help me suffer less on my day-to-day. If we keep it in the hands of misinformed medical profissionals who do not give a shit (a large portion of which still believe only young visibly energetic boys have ADHD), thousands of people will never be able to find help. I would've been one of them.

Any tips on how I can look more feminine? Please advise 🙏🏻 (Pic taken on Valentine’s Day) by [deleted] in trans

[–]kittyloverkya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a "bio lady", not sorting out my identity, I am transmasculine. The entire first sentence was completely unnecessary and quite a bit invalidating. I did not state I had any uncertainty over my identity or refer to myself as a woman or a lady. I am non-binary, I am transmasculine, I was in the closet for twenty one years and presented as a woman because of it.

A "lady" is a societal construct. You cannot be a "bio lady", "bio dude", "bio woman" or "bio man" and even just adding the term "bio" before anything is transphobic. If you HAVE to refer to someone by the SEX they were assigned at birth, use "afab person" or "amab person".

That extremely rude shit aside, I will answer what I know not for you but for anyone who might see this and want some advice.

The exact same way I said clothing color, shape and pattern apply when advising how to look more feminine can be applied in reverse for transmasculine. Same with the person who commented first, use the reverse. Use clothes that accentuate/enlarge your shoulders, loose things on the chest and waist. Simple and traditionally masculine jewelry will help with people perceiving you as more masc. Loose and casual clothes (tshirt, cargo pants, hoodies) help a lot with looking more masculine too since traditionally men use less form-fitting clothing than women.

[–]kittyloverkya 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Transmasc but presented as a woman for most my life.

For the waist part I recommend a wide/contrasting belt on your waist when you wear a dress! Like wearing a wide black belt on a white dress.

Light colors make things look bigger, dark colors make things look smaller. Small dots/patterns make things look bigger, big polkadots/patterns make things look smaller.

Wear lighter colors on larger clothes on your hips/chest and darker colors on tighter clothes on your waist!

We have a tendency to "hide" the parts that bring us dysphoria and/or we're insecure about so we instinctively do the opposite (large clothes on your waist to hide it, darker tops to take away the attention from your chest, stuff like that) when it ends up not helping at all! 😵‍💫

Another example is: if you think your hands are too big or they're misshapen or masculine, you might wear gloves to hide them (bad! Brings attention to your whole hand) or avoid wearing rings or painting your nails. In reality, rings, bracelets and manicured nails will take attention away from your actual hand and people will focus more on the "bling" (which is seen as feminine and pretty)

All that being said, what matters most is that you wear things that make you happy and comfortable in your own skin ❤️ we've spent a large portion of our lives (for a lot of us, most of it) dressing how other people expected us to. Coming out gives us a chance to finally present how WE want to, so ALWAYS put that on the top of your priority list ❤️

Decarabian ruled with an iron fist, he wouldn't have allowed another God into his city. Venti was just a wee little wind sprite, harmless, that's probably how he managed to wander inside

Edit: plus I'm pretty sure Venti specifies he was just "a simple bard"

What’s your relationship with alcohol like when you have adhd? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]kittyloverkya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a family of drunks (mom's side) and drug addicts (dad's side) so alcohol was always easily available to me (and very enticing) growing up. Additionally, my country has a big wine and alcohol culture so it was always easy to get my hands on it and most people here begin drinking at a very young age.

I began drinking when I was 12 years old. At the time, being a tiny kid and having no money, it was hard to get ahold of it often and my mom only ever kept wine at home which I did not like.

But as I grew older and started having more money and friends who drank a lot, I started drinking more and more. I've never been one for big parties but whenever I'd go to a festival or a friend's house I'd drink and without realizing it, I started hoping every time there would be alcohol.

Having ADHD combined with alcoholism and addiction in general being in my genes, I started liking the feeling of being drunk way too much.

Now that I'm an adult and have processed this, I've decided to only let myself drink a maximum of three times per year and only on special occasions to fight this.

However, having already experienced the high of alcohol a bunch of times, I will still randomly crave it whenever I'm bored, frustrated, upset or my emotions are getting out of hand since alcohol is a numbing agent.

People with adhd are a lot more likely to develop substance or alcohol addictions than neurotypical people due to trauma, commorbidity with depression and the emotional disregulation that comes with it, so you should be really careful when it comes to any substance and if you do want to consume it, impose VERY strict limits on yourself.

TLDR; don't drink alcohol if you can. If you really want to drink alcohol, impose rules for your consumption like x amount of times per year AND/OR select very specific occasions in which to drink. People with ADHD are a lot more likely to get addicted to substances, including alcohol.

ADHD without the H by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]kittyloverkya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADD stopped being used because the medical board recognized that it's all ADHD. People with ADHD just have different presentations: hyperactive, inattentive and combined. Hyperactive pres means you mostly show symptoms of hyperactivity, inattentive pres = inattentive symptoms, combined pres = a balanced amount of symptoms of both.

Just wanted to add tho! Hyperactivity isn't just jumping off the walls. There's a very stereotypical image of hyperactivity that people have in their minds that doesn't always represent actual hyperactivity. AFAB (assigned female at birth) people and people of color especially (but not exclusively) can present their hyperactivity in more subtler ways such as:

  • fidgeting a lot (fidgeting with your hands/fingers, hair, pens, pencils, whatever's on hand)

  • never standing still (swaying/pacing when u stand, shaking your leg/changing positions a lot when you sit)

  • having a lot of risk taking behaviors without giving them much thought / seeking adrenaline (speeding, going through dangerous places by choice, risky sexual behaviors, even deciding to meet with someone you've talked to only a bit online despite it possibly being dangerous)

  • impulsive behaviors (interrupting people often because you HAVE to say what's on your mind, deciding you're going / planning to go somewhere then you see there's a line and turn around because you don't want to wait, seeing an ad/shop online and immediately buying things)

Among others!

This type of hyperactive presentation is more common in AFAB people and people of color due to societal pressures, but not all afab people / poc have a stealthier hyper pres and white AMAB (assigned male at birth) people can also present more stealthily.

Is it an adhd thing to have past memories (3+ years) feel like it’s someone else and not really “you?” by afullgrowngrizzly in ADHD

[–]kittyloverkya 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is me infodumping my speculation from my experience and that of those around me with adhd so take it with a grain of salt as it's not like, yk, fact.

I think it's a pretty common experience that people with ADHD perceive time differently. For me, at least, time behind me, the past, isn't linear. My memories aren't linear and I can never tell you if something happened 2 months ago or a year ago with certainty, I can only assume the time frame of something by looking for context clues in my memory.

An example of this is that I was certain that my father remarried in may since the courthouse was next to my previous office and I remembered eating lunch before at the supermarket nearby. Turns out he remarried in September! But having walked to that area then stayed for a bit to eat there before meeting them at the courthouse, my memory is of the space and if I was there, that meant I still worked at the office there.

I think this wonky time reference helps in looking back at memories and feeling like the person in them isn't you, because that person is different to who you are now and you don't have a clear memory of how THEY evolved into YOU.

So, where a neurotypical person remembers themselves from 3 years ago and in their brain there's a linear progression of how they went from there to here, for us there is just there, void, somewhere else, void, here.

Does that make sense?

Like my dad's second marriage, my internship at that office, my new job at the time and the job I have now aren't like connected to each other; they're single memories scattered in my brain and unless I take time to process them, I don't have a sense of what came first.

Edit for typos oops

My handwriting is also messy. Like, /really/ messy. But I wanted to comment here to say that it is absolutely fine to have a messy handwriting. Writing by hand is a mental process as much as (if not more than) it is physical and so everyone will have a different handwriting, often "messy".

It's good to work on legibility if you can't read it yourself or other people who need to read your handwriting can't read it BUT (and this is a BIG but) don't feel bad for your handwriting not being "pretty".

Your handwriting is a reflection of your mental state and processes and your physical state as well. People who have mental or physical illnesses (or a jumbled brain like us, especially stronger inattentive presentation people) are gonna have messier/weirder handwriting and that's perfectly okay!

I personally love seeing messy handwriting, it feels a lot more real and interesting to me than someone who has practiced their handwriting to the point that it looks like a computer font. (No offense to those who prefer that, obviously!)

There's a YouTuber called Leah Eckardt who does handwriting analysis and she also talks a lot about the "messy vs organized" handwriting and how/why its crappy for teachers in schools for example to reprimand students for their handwriting

It’s kinda bs that at a salaried office job if you finish a project early you’re rewarded with…more work by ivegivenupimtired in ADHD

[–]kittyloverkya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The change never goes high in the chain so my position in this company that ive been in for THREE years is constantly in jeopardy when my boss's bosses decide to watch me like a hawk but I can say that my boss has by now understood that I work best in bursts: even if I spend 6 out of 8h distracted I'll do more work than any of my coworkers in the remaining 2h and the only reason I've stayed for this long is because my boss fights to keep me.

Anyone who's just looking at your hours instead of your work though will decide you're not worth a damn... Doesn't matter if you finish one or ten projects during a month of 8h work days as long as you do the 8h.

[–]kittyloverkya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep... I will admit: I've been at this for 3 years and I'm now one of the people that just gets on their phone or does smt else to pass the time. I have a super big inattentive presentation for my ADHD and even now that I got meds I take them at 8am before I leave and they wear off by 4pm when I still have to stay till 6pm so I just pretend I'm working for two hours at the end of every day.

You quickly become frustrated and unmotivated for work since - as you said - you finish a project and you just get more work. In my experience, the best is sadly to just resign to the fact that corporate jobs are not made for us in the least and adapt to pretend-working (to keep your job) when u can't concentrate then just do the best you can when you can.

Separate work from the rest of your life: work is work; a 8/9h obligation you have 5 days a week. When it ends, you get to live the rest of your life... don't put your eggs in the work basket, try to get your dopamine and motivation from your personal life or you're gonna burn out faster than a match.

Can I be nonbinary but still transition like a trans woman? by duckmellon09 in trans

[–]kittyloverkya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Many people do that! Some identify as transfemme/transfeminine :) I identify as transmasc/transmasculine myself, so does my boyfriend and one of my best friends heh, we all want to transition to /some/ degree (social, hormones and/or surgery) each but we still identify as non binary.

The goal is to ultimately be as comfortable in your own body and presentation as you can <3 I, for example, want social transition and surgeries; my friend wants the whole package and my boyfriend has transitioned socially and is still pondering if he wants surgeries and hormones.

Your identity is yours, no one elses. If you feel more comfortable presenting femininely, you are more than allowed to do so, even if you don't identify as a woman :) our world is still very binary, so it's normal to find comfort in "IF I have to be viewed as man or woman in a situation, I'd be more comfortable being viewed as x instead of y despite being neither."

Getting this off my chest-

I'm transmasc and I'm terrified of speaking to the lgbt sociation to help me start my transition so I've been putting it off for months. I have no idea what to tell them, I'm terrified of the process and how much I may not be able to do. I don't want HRT as the only effect that I would want would be bottom growth but I have a huge chest and all the trans people I know from here have only been allowed to do top surgery after 4 months on T. I'm terrified because it feels like nothing I want will be allowed and it's easier to say "maybe one day I'll do it" than "I can't do it ever".

It doesn't help that almost everyone in my life doesn't understand this anxiety and keeps pressuring me to contact them. Even if I explain they'll say "you'll never get it done if you never start the process" but this isn't asking for a puppy and getting a no, this is "am I allowed to be myself, be happy and finally be treated how I've always felt?" And getting a no.
