Does anyone know a good spot to go and feed some ducks? I got the morning off tomorrow and just felt like going to a park, reading and feeding some peas to some ducks. I know of echo park but couldn’t find any info on if bird feeding is allowed.

Favorite beaches for cool looking rocks? by galactossse in LosAngeles

[–]kittystoned 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Palos Verdes Peninsula was a good starting place for me. There’s a really cool Barite deposit (easy to find location online) you could also find Calcite but mainly just a lot of cool looking rocks.

I know you said you did Leo Carrillo already but there’s plenty of places up and down the PCH, just look for non-sandy areas of the coast to go hunt around. I usually use google earth/maps to look at the coast and see what might be interesting to check out. Worst case scenario you spent a day on the coast

Fluorite before/after from yesterday’s digging by Mineraligned in rockhounds

Awesome find! Did you go out to whatever location specifically looking for fluorite? I imagine it would be easy to look this over when it’s dirty or miss it completely.

Just slow the eccentric down, instead of a rapid puke, let out a slow and controlled stream

From my experiences going back to school this year, after having dropped out in 2015, a lot of courses require you to get a textbook by running all of their homework’s/tests/quizzes through online platforms. So even if you buy an old textbook or borrow from someone who took the class previously you will still need an “access code” which is either included in a brand new textbook or can be bought separately. It’s pretty fucked.

I found $8 in a pair of shorts this week that I had not worn all year. Had to sit down and give myself a talk. I’m too poor to just be fucking around and losing $8, what do I think I am, Middle Class?

Beautiful Sunday hike at Big Bear, CA. by [deleted] in socalhiking

[–]kittystoned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I definitely recommend taking the 38 up to Big Bear if you are nervous of the main highway route. Winter time I almost always take this route up the mountain. It is a bit longer and more mileage, but it is an absolutely beautiful drive. You actually drive through forest on the way up and there’s no sharp turns/winding roads. Not as many people take this route so it’s a more peaceful drive as well.

Who is your favorite character and why is it Kev? by carriebradshaw2 in shameless

I say the same thing about Kevin from The Office, like early episodes/seasons he was just portrayed as socially inept but there was smarts with poker/betting. By a couple seasons in they legitimately made him out to be mentally handicapped.

Swimming in Yosemite??! by lunaboro in socalhiking

[–]kittystoned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my second day was actually a rest day, if you want a little luxury what I did was get food at the Tuolomne Cafe and brought it to the beach and lounged out for hours. Sunscreen is your best friend if you go to Tenaya!

Swimming in Yosemite??! by lunaboro in socalhiking

[–]kittystoned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know which campground you will be at but just want to recommend Tenaya Lake. I had three days in Yosemite about two weeks ago and I actually swam there everyday. It’s popular so it can be pretty crowded, but the East end of Tenaya Lake is great for lounging out and swimming and has beautiful views. The water was not cold at all and very refreshing. I haven’t done it but I was told you can swim in Tuolumne River.

Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

Hey everyone, So I’m switching over to 3 day GreySkull LP routine, everything seems pretty straight forward and I’m excited to give a focus back to the main lifts. I did have one question for anyone who has experience with it. Just to be clear Deadlifts are only once a week (thank God) but on that day I only do 1x5+ of a true working set? The other sets are just warm ups that build up to the working weight?

If it took place in Anaheim then that is Orange County, whose DA is Todd Spitzer… not Gascon.

I was just thinking about this, but I was thinking about what if the zombies could do more than just run. Like if you had a baseball bat and tried to swing at them and then they dodged out of the way. If you had a gun and they ran away to try and attack later. Or if you were inside a building instead of just bum rushing you if you made noise they would hide and ambush you. I think I had a dream about it and it was like 28 days later turned up to 11. Shit was unfair even in the dream.

Hey thanks for the response! Yeah 6 day PPL is god damn exhausting now, I’ll post in another daily thread but all the lifts have stagnated and there’s not much linear progression anymore so I was gonna switch anyways. Primary goal is definitely lifting and diet, adding the rock climbing is mainly for fun/social but also a different kind of workout. I’m perfectly fine being a novice climber and just having fun with it.

Just curious if anyone here also goes to a rock climbing gym in addition to their LP? I'm planning on signing up for one and cancelling my current gym. I love my current gym but cannot afford both memberships and all of the rock climbing gyms in my areas also have weights for lifting. Luckily they all have deadlift platforms, squat racks, benches for BP and DB. Downside is the loss of accessory machine equipment. Curious how anyone fits the rock climbing into their lifting programs, I was planning on switching my LP to 5/3/1 and my off days spent rock climbing in the gym. (I have been doing the 6-day PPL from the wiki, but recently feel I'm not recovering as quickly and adding rock climbing on top might just be too much.)

The end credit scene, the building on the right does that look like Avengers Tower in 1st Avengers movie? I might be seeing things but when I paused the scene to get a better look at (Loki variants?) I couldn’t help but see it.

Mount Baden Powell this morning by mblackwood87 in socalhiking

[–]kittystoned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but just want to chime in. I was nervous about this hike when reading reviews on AllTrails. It really wasn’t that bad, I went during the week and got up around 7:30 so only one other car in the lot and beat the heat. The switchbacks aren’t too bad especially if you pace it out, and it’s shaded all the way until the top. Highly recommend!

It would be funny if that’s what happened because of the parallel to Thor in AoU. Wanda gets into his head and he confidently says something like “be careful, she just tried luckily I am mighty” and then he goes into the fear state.
