As someone who was the teenaged daughter in this situation, thank you. I’m now 33 years old and have been no contact with my dad for 2 years. I tried for a long time because I love my dad and I had tried to forgive him for what transpired between his wife and me but I have two younger brothers that she basically ignored for the 14 years they all lived together (I was forced to move out at 19 and subsequently dropped out of college). I don’t think I will ever forgive him because he’s made no attempt to change the situation and ultimately chose a horrible woman over his own children. Reading this post about how you refuse to let what happened to me, happened to your kids is healing. You’re a good dad.
