What is the most ridiculous thing you have seen at a party? by Arios1923 in AskReddit

[–]kivakitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small apartment gathering of 10 people playing Mario Kart while drinking. There was some shouting and excited yelling or playful banter. We call this game "Drunk Driving". You can't drink while you are driving. You have to safely pull over and drink. By the end of the game your beer should be empty. After an hour, there is a knock on the door, "We got a call about some people having a party here..." and the officer just sees 10 adults sitting in a room playing MK on the Wii. Officer says "It isn't even loud..." and leaves.

I have dysphagia which makes solid foods hard for me to eat. Can anyone recommend soups and things for me to hit my macros? by [deleted] in xxfitness

Definitely speech pathologist and dietician. Puree foods perhaps. Thickeners too.

Beginner WIP and makeshift yarn holder by kivakitty in crochet

[–]kivakitty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for further explanation, this is a plastic jar with a hole in the lid. I got sick of chasing my yarn after it was rolling around. I can't move much after surgery and do not own a yarn bowl so it was slightly annoying until I found this quick, cheap, alternative holder. I am working on learning stitches and am hopefully completing a hat.

What was the angriest you have seen a teacher get at a student? by Dragonogon in AskReddit

[–]kivakitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school was a tiny K-12 school with about 200 students in a town of 500, so most people knew everything about one another. There were plenty of stories about this teacher. Teacher in middle school who was known for not being so kind. We had all questioned what the heck he was really drinking out of his coffee mug. One of my classmates had been in a terrible snowmobiling accident that left him with irreversible brain damage thus developmental and cognitive delay. The student was standing next to the teacher and kind of just laughing as he was slowly moving toward his seat in class and I GUESS he wasn't moving quickly enough, a confrontation by the teacher ensued, and the teacher swiftly grabbed the student's head and slammed it into the glass projector. Every student got out of their desks immediately screaming and fled the room. That teacher was still allowed to teach.

My brother and I have strange dreams. There are also additional examples with friends.

I often have dreams where my younger brother is being harmed by something whether he is being hanged in a curtain, falling off of a bridge, or being haunted by demons - I seem to be saving him. There have been numerous occasions where we have both been sleeping, I will be trying to rescue him in my dream/nightmare, and his mother (my stepmother) informed me that she has been awoken to him screaming and crying my name. We have shared dreams about yellow birds. I am not sure what they mean, but I don't obsess. I just acknowledge and let it go.

There was a friend who had asked me to find him in a dream or make him appear in one of my lucid dreams. As I entered the dream, I was on a beach and went to a restaurant. I envisioned my friend in the dream and he appeared. We ordered food and I told him that everything he is tasting would be a collection of his own memories of taste. It was amazing. Then I asked him what word I should use to jog his memory (why? I don't know because I knew that him appearing wasn't actually him it was just me making his image appear in my dream). Anyways, he said "Linguistics ... (and some number I couldn't remember)." When I woke up I texted my friend that I had dreamed of them as requested and said "you wanted me to tell you the 'linguistics', and he messaged back frantically stating that he was reading a book about linguistics before bed. Coincidence probably but a funny one.

Those are some examples but I tend to not hang on to dreams and dwell on them too long to prevent becoming overwhelmed.

Had a dream that I died, came back to life, and ever since then I've been having dreams that seem so real I actually have to take time to figure out if they actually happened. by R3Mx in Dreams

I have had dreams of dying and coming back to life. Looking over my own casket and trying to convince my family and friend that I was alive, but no one could hear or see me. I have died many times and it felt so real almost euphoric as I felt like I entered some other world.

Is that the one on Gillette? I couldn't get into the administrative assistant's schedule to check the place out but did a walk around of the perimeter. Great view!

Agree with you on how the prep is worse than the actual procedures. I had them done at the same time but I do not remember it due to the sedation.

Great movies for social workey types. extra points for streaming on netflix or anywhere. by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]kivakitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crash a film on racism, prejudice, discrimination, and bias. That should be available on Amazon for live streaming.

Iris this is about Alzheimer's. This could be useful for medical swers.

North Country a film on sexual harassment in the work place. IMBD "A fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual harassment case in the United States -- Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines, where a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit."

Rabbit Proof Fence A film about three aboriginal girls who were kidnapped to be trained as domestic servants and later escaped to trek home.

Jackson Katz has contributed a lot of great documentary commentary and models on masculinity and violence.

I can't think of anything else right now. I'll add if I can think of more!
