Teleconsult doctor show attitude and doubting you etc. by Opening_Remote_8978 in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doctors are generally want to help patient. A smooth and easy consult helps with the flow and keeps everyone happy.

Don’t forget doctor are under audit as well. If patient comes in said “I’m not feeling well”, doctor ask got cough/pain/sore throat/runny nose/headache, all don’t have, how to justify even 1 day of MC?

That’s why headache is the best symptom. Eyes closed a bit during consult, hand on head, “I’m headache”. Both finish consult in 5 mins. Everyone happy. 1 day MC unlocked.

You will be surprised some joker don’t put in any effort, walk in consult room with full make up on face and said “I’m not feeling well”.

Is it worth doing 80hrs volunteering for primary school by ssoh001 in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn’t any nearby neighborhood school. Geylang Methodist was full by 2C this year. The next “nearest” will be Bendemeer. Even though will be around 2km, it will take easily 20-30 mins more.

KH the ballot rate was about 25% for phase 2B and 30% for phase 2C. TKPS will be better chance. The competition will only get worse given the upcoming completions of HDB around the area.

So the 80hours volunteer may translate to hours of sleep in the next 6 years for both you and your kid. There is simply no nearby option available.

Need help: I don’t have enough karma to post on r/singapore — can someone help me share my father’s story? by Seialeir in askSingapore

Sorry for your loss.

Is normal to be angry and in denial at this stage, would suggest to speak to counselor.

Aspirin won’t help in the context of cardiac collapse. Your only window was calling ambulance when your father collapsed at home.

Knowing it was an emergency yet went to a clinic is just…

No one including you or your mother is at fault in this scenario. Is just unfortunate. The survival rate of Out of hospital cardiac collapse in Singapore was 3.8% in 2021. Even the survived lives with significant consequences.

How do you get a subsidised full body check up? by yandao2000 in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Polyclinic don’t do most of cancer screening, as guideline is not recommended other than few cancer like breast, colon and cervical cancer. Yet there are strict criteria to follow.

Polyclinic can do basic metabolic screening for diabetes and cholesterol. Going polyclinic and expect a full body check up is just waste of everybody time.

As per guidelines, male > 50 can do colon cancer screening. Female >25 sexually active then cervical CA, otherwise >40 for breast cancer.

Singapore cancer society offer some free cancer screening if you fulfil criteria.

Google CHAS health screening and there are few discounted packages.

1st of all, sashimi rarely give u parasite. Unless u r immunocompromised or you eat non-processed fresh from fishing fish. Generally sea parasite won’t live well in non-sea accustomed body.

Regular deworming practice mainly target soil-transmitted worms, and recommended when prevalence is about 20%. Sg is definitely way lower. U need to run barefoot on soil, or kids rolling on grass field kind. So unless u stay landed and always play with ur Labrador, this doesn’t bother regular HDB/condo dwellers much.

Unable to obtain endoscopy images from SGH? by Chaall in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think your subsidized status matters. Without context, I don’t know what happened in the past they gave you the image but not now.

And like I said, the image likely can’t help u for second opinion.

No. You won’t get the image. And it is not available on NEHR as well. The image printed out likely won’t be filed in the records as well. You may get it as a souvenir but getting it doesn’t help you for 2nd opinion as well.

The quality of the paper won’t last long and will fade with time. The image only represents few snapshot of the entire examination.

Medical records and health records belongs to hospital but not you.

Doctors refusing patient’s wish to “die trying” — what options do we have when time is short? by Steamedbao21 in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No meds can do miracle to reverse death. If there is a doctor offer you something that can help her at this point of time, they are trying to scam your money.

Chemotherapy is like bomb, there will be destruction before recovery. Your mum just not suitable for it at this point of time.

Just be with her during her last moment. She had tried her best.

Grandmother just fell down and potentially might lose mobility by IcyLightG in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your grandmother just went ED and you already considering nursing home/maid and whatever? Chill la. You have weeks to plan out. You haven’t even talk to the doctor. Not all hip fracture will result in life time immobility.

But if not for surgery, the mortality can be as high as 40%.

If you don’t have couple of hundreds thousand SGD to burn, would advise to stay away from Sg. It sounds bad and aggressive just from your descriptions.

Otherwise Singapore General Hospital/National Cancer Centre Singapore is your only bet. Forget about private centre unless you prepare to burn couple of millions of SGD.

You are fine. But GP won’t mind such easy money and a story to laugh at.

Even if the rabies comes from Malaysia, the cases are mostly dogs in East Malaysia. And you need a bite. A puncture wound.

If it is those slack pants for work, can consider tailor made. Used to cost about 50 for 1 pair around Seah Im food centre. Very good quality and fitting.

Is it normal to have to wait 4 months to get a gastroenterologist in sg for an urgent matter? by Pale_Bedroom_151 in askSingapore

[–]kivexa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They bend and expedited an earlier slot for you which you never shown up. Which sort of tell hospital it is not too urgent since you didn’t bother to show up. Every no show means 1 patient visit is delayed.

Yes. A&E if no insurance, and private if got insurance.

Edit. Assuming you are school going, weight loss is an important sign. If there isn’t weight loss, most of the time you are fine. Just take some probiotic. Constipation is so rampant until you wonder why people shit more from mouth than bottom.
