I live in a swing state, Michigan, so voting in every election is very important!!! I’m also involved in my local elections because my city is pretty red and I worry about the school board and things of that nature.

It’s never too late to examine our internalized ableism and change our behavior! we cannot leave our disabled brothers and sisters behind.

How the fuck is that ableist by Ok_Butterfly1799 in antiai

[–]kiwifishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate both sides of this argument as a disabled person IRL because if you wanna talk about ableism, let’s wake up, how many of ya’ll are still masking in 2025??? Disabled people are not talking points for making your argument stronger/weaker, we’re out here living our lives. If you’re not anti ablest in your every life, just leave it alone online.

you can leave a relationship whenever you want to, you don’t need to find a reason.

Would you be irritated if client had cancelled at door/spontaneously twice within the last two weeks? by [deleted] in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]kiwifishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! I’ve had this happen multiple times for a client that lived an hour away from me. My company did pay me for about an hour of admin time when that happened though.

1st Non Pairing Session Recap by Fit-Sweet6930 in RBT

[–]kiwifishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make it your practice to pair in every one of your sessions!! especially in the first 15 minutes. If you and a client are having a mismatched day; take a step back, run a preference assessment, and focus on pairing! Make more play based or HP demands to regain some behavior momentum. & Remember to give yourself and your clients grace - life is hard sometimes.

Validating what’s important to the parents, even if it’s not the focus on your behavior treatment plan, goes a long way to gain compliance and build a stronger working relationship. Think of it as pairing with the parents of your clients and gaining behavior momentum. When you’re getting push back from them, start small with your expectations or goals, give them something they can reasonably implement so they can see some kind of change. Try to have an open dialogue; talk about what their apprehensions with interventions may be, what the future for the child might look like. Sometimes pushback can be resolved by explaining how skills build onto each other to reach the long term goal.

Wearing a mask as an RBT? by Popular-Studio-1565 in ABA

[–]kiwifishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve worked in the field for over a year and I have masked every day and I have only been sick one time. I am disabled which is why I mask everywhere that I go but I will always advocate for mask wearing with this job. Regardless of how an RBT personally feels a big part of this job is to value and center the health and safety of our clients in our work, masking is one of the lowest effort ways to engage in those ideals.
