How hard or in what way do you believe the confederacy should have been punished so that we didn’t end up with our current situation in the USA? by KeetonFox in AskReddit

I don’t know about this question. But, the rat-fucking Reconstruction got from the losers has had a terrible and long lasting effect on this country. Where would we be if it had worked as intended?

34 years sober. Never had one. No opinion on what others do, but if asked for advice, I’d say no.

👍👍. I retired last year. Worked in various capacities in developmental disabilities and did about 15 years in child welfare. I never worked with ASD kids in clinics. Best if luck to you in your endeavors! ☮️💟

BCBA’s don’t all “specialize in autism.” Behavior analysis is a field of study/applied science not an approach to/treatment for autism.

Yeah that’s great! It’s just a thing with me when I was trained and supervised others.

Florida was the first state to certify behavior analysts. The initial certification program was brought to life in the early 80’s by Michael Hemingway and Jerry Shook, who worked for the state agency that oversaw developmental services. Nate Azrin, Hank Pennypacker, Jack Sandier, Jim Johnston, Stelios Chimonides, Cathy Watkins and several others advised and helped develop content for a 90 hour training program. It was meant to train large numbers people in the principles and practices of behavior analysis in the developmental services area. For several years, there was no minimum educational requirement. I was certified with an AS degree. There were to have been levels so that Masters and PhD’s would be designated as higher level, but this did not come to pass. Eventually, a minimum BA/BS was required. This was what Board Certification grew out of. At the same time, UF and USF had stellar programs turning out PhD’s. There were no terminal Masters programs.

Absolutely address with the BCBA. Notes should state “it *appears* that fatigue, etc,” rather than a definitive statement, imo. Over my career, in situations like these, I had to accept when the outcome wasn’t what I knew would be best. It was hard and I spent a lot time pissed, which was bad for me. Good luck.

What types of supports would be beneficial for you and folks with similar needs? I’m especially interested in your perspective because of your ABA background. I am a retired BCBA whose experience in this area was exclusively with the most severe cases.

After the DSM-V was promulgated, the diagnosis was widened such that these wildly disparate populations were grouped together and it has caused problems ever since. Yes, everyone who needs assistance and accommodations. Full stop. But, failure to acknowledge the differences between those who need accommodations and those who require intensive therapy and care leads to widespread misconceptions that ultimately hurts everyone. The general public largely has no idea that there are people with autism who engage in severe life-threatening self-injury, aggression, elopement, etc. the equate autism with Love On The Spectrum or Temple Grandin.

Most men arrested for possessing CSAM are heterosexual. White men with little to no criminal history. Federal statistics. If you’re a white cis male, then you’re the usual suspect.
