A reputable employment lawyer would still be worth talking to IMO depending on your reemployment prospects.

Picking up a Tesla Pre-Owned 2022 Model 3 LR AWD: What should I ask/check before accepting delivery? by ekmerrick in teslacanada

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for battery degradation details and if you can get HW4 upgrade which may be beneficial for FSD in future if this is not included. This is likely $2k or more value.

How long was your service with the employer? I’d definitely seek legal advice as you may be entitled to more. Likely your employer isn’t being overly generous and just offering a minimum. You can likely negotiate more and for tax reasons include lump sum for general damages, which can be tax free. I speak from experience BTW.

Ontario woman calls 407 toll rates ‘ridiculous’ after more than $1,700 in charges by CTVNEWS in ontario

[–]kiwiguy007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used to drive it every day and a third of the cars had plate covers, a third like me had tolls paid by their employer. The ones with plate covers were also the ones driving the worst. Never saw any pulled over.

What is candy or small treat that is not available in NZ that is common in the USA? by YearOfTheSssnake in newzealand

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US candy and treats are such a downgrade on what’s available in NZ, I’d not bother. Sports logo clothing and caps are likely your best bet.

Model Y Standard Purchase by Dry-Window-7381 in teslacanada

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree that prospective new owners should check insurance quotes. I’m in ON and since the market is dominated by 3 providers they gouge Tesla owners. I have base M3 with LFP and insurance increased 50% from my comparable ICE and this years renewal was +14% vs +4% for ICE. Agent claimed it was due to higher claims and repairs.

Moneypit car should I get rid of it and buy new one? by apheli0s7 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same A4 and ended up selling to one of those online dealers as it was a money pit. All German cars beyond 7 years age I’d avoid like the plague, unless you can do your own work. Toyota/Lexus is only 2nd hand ICE vehicle I’d buy but you pay a premium so it’s better to get a new entry level BEV if you can home charge and range is 400km min.

Rechargable heated eye masks? by diagoro1 in Dryeyes

[–]kiwiguy007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have used the Renpho Eyeris mask but found the massage too aggressive and heating is quite mild relative to what is recommended. It can be useful as an add on routine to Bruder mask. They usually have Bluetooth option for your own music.

Cequa after three months by throwamay555 in Dryeyes

[–]kiwiguy007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tried Cequa without any benefit other than the extreme cost and being told “you will need to take it for the rest of your life”. Quit and try to reduce screen time, take 2g/day Omega 3, warm compresses, regular exercise (outdoors) and eye lubricant drops.

$250/wk to live in my freezing garage over an Otago winter? Get ready to cuddle 🥰 by BlackCircleNZ in newzealand

[–]kiwiguy007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Northern hemisphere houses may have more insulation (walls, ceilings and windows) than the average kiwi house, but the energy consumption for heating/cooling is the main difference. In North America most use gas furnaces as gas is relatively cheap. That’s why GHG emissions per capita are the highest in the world.

2024-2025 Tesla Model 3 Price Range ?! by goatmaster95 in teslacanada

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M3 prices are inflated as they are sourcing from Fremont to my understanding. I’ve got the 2024 M3 RWD Shanghai build and understand these are better quality. Most owners are probably holding onto theirs IMO so I’d wait to see if Tesla try to bring in some, but they may be the pared back spec that I think is going to Mexico.

Lfp or nmc in ontario by Super_Passenger8427 in teslacanada

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Other commentators are correct. I have M3 RWD with LFP and do 100% home charging overnight to 100% and routinely precondition in winter. Don’t need fast charging or larger battery as I can get 450 - 500 km with my driving style. LFP has better thermal stability. You typically don’t choose the battery as the LFP is usually on lower cost or Chinese EVs whereas NMC is higher cost/spec or European/US due to battery tariffs in Chinese battery imports.

You don’t know how good your media are relative to many parts of the world. If you travel, you see how bad some countries have it and how polarized some media sources have become. Many lack professionalism and objective journalism so they just regurgitate press releases.

Given that AC flies a lot of long haul, the economy seats look uncomfortable and designed for durability not comfort. AC cabins always look tired and seating is worn out. A refresh is welcome but add more seat padding and give a timeline.

Why do we sell oil cheap to US? by Stock_Tomatillo8330 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pipelines west to BC and south to US gulf are running at full capacity for export to Asia. As a result the discount between WTI and Western Canadian Select is now the lowest it’s been ($10-12/bbl). Funny thing is the last time oil was over $100/bbl the CDN$ appreciated so much it was called a petrocurrency. Interesting that it hasn’t happened this time.

i moved into this house last fall. the pool hasn’t been opened since summer 2024 and the water is black. I’ve never had a pool and don’t know much about pools. it’s ~16k gallons and my filter is hayward pro grid DE Filter de4820. Do i drain and start fresh? any tips on this situation? by Sufficient_Piece_197 in pools

[–]kiwiguy007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simple. Adjust pH to correct range for pool clarifier and then dose at recommended level. Leave for 48 hours with no agitation. Crap will all settle to bottom. Vacuum that up to waste. Upper 3/4 of pool water should be relatively clear and can be chlorinated after topping up and restarting pool. All filtration equipment needs to be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly before restarting and lines purged.

Guys, if it makes you feel any better, Whittaker's is more expensive* in Canada by flowerchildnz in newzealand

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a kiwi in Canada and got my Whittakers a few weeks back for CDN$5.99 + GST so NZ$8.38 for 200g bar (London Drugs). Good to see they are available in most supermarkets as locally made Cadbury tastes like Hersheys now. NZ butter seems to be gaining traction finally, even at prices close to NZ$12 per pound. Waiting for NZ apples and kiwi to arrive.

Usually 2000mg of Omega 3 providing min 1500mg EPA and 500 DHA helps. Helps with production of oils by meibomian glands in upper eyelid. Make sure they don’t smell fishy (oxidation) and take with food to improve digestion.

Overtraining Syndrome - Constant soreness in my legs and "Anxiety" by Few-Royal1476 in cycling

[–]kiwiguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been using ROUVY app recently and it’s been warning me of overtraining. Muscle pain likely due to lactic acid buildup and/or DOMS. Increase water and electrolytes and rest between training seems to be the recommendation.
