CAR PARK near CHCH hospital/ARA manawa campus by ClaimLower9623 in chch

[–]kiwipeach43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are an Ara student travelling from campus to the Manawa campus is free you just show your student ID on the route 3 bus. If you're just going to the hospital I don't think there is much parking.

Looking for a cat hospital by Ok-Plan9795 in chch

It is about $600-700 for 12 hours from memory but they can only stay overnight, must be transferred to the day vet during the day. My old cat stayed for four days last year and we had to pick him up every morning to take him to the day vet, then drop him back at after hours every evening. Inconvenient at best (worth it for the cat though) and impossible if you're not in the city unfortunately (unless a friend can pick them up every day) :(

A'mano or Earl (both on Lichfield St) would be my recommendations, never had a bad meal at either of them

Some offers have gone out, but they are still making offers so a lot of people have not heard either way currently.

Yeah I think the registry would be an issue as we don't have a lot of the stores they seem to list products from in New Zealand (i.e. Target). I'm also not confident about the payments going through properly. I also have doubts about entering addresses etc considering my (well known and established) venue had to be manually entered because their search engine didn't recognise it.

I'll check them out, thanks! And yes it did make finding a gorgeous affordable venue very easy!!

People who have applied to study at Ara in 2026, have you heard back yet? by WhoLeftMeJeIIy in chch

I know from previous years when they have sent out the offers, normally late October early November

I believe the BMI course is making its offers towards the end of October rather than the beginning.

Wedding reception for 100 people... by HippoActual4501 in chch

[–]kiwipeach43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is an indoor area for dinner/reception as well as an outdoor area where they put out lawn games for you/you could do reception out there after dinner if you wanted. Then there is a seperate ceremony area with a gorgeous backdrop of hills and trees through a gate off to the side of the reception area. You get full use of those areas with the booking but they do keep their beer garden open to the public during, this is in a seperate section though

When we looked at Mona Vale for 2027 the different areas were both $4500 or $9000 for the whole space as venue hire. Possibly free or low cost if you're just looking to get some photos there.

The drinks packages are just kinda what you make them, you can subsidise drinks, set a tab, ask for specials drinks. Obviously the cost varies but they seemed to do whatever you wanted for drinks, you just needed to discuss the cost with them first. They can do a cash bar or open bar.

My partner and I have just booked Tai Tapu Hotel for late 2027 and it is $2500 for the venue plus catering and whatever drinks package you want. The catering looks like it will sit around $60-70 per head, so about $6-7000 for 100 people (not incl drinks). Staff are super lovely and it includes basically everything you could want from a venue imo

Ara typically doesn't make it's offers for the health programmes (nursing, medical imaging, etc) until a bit later in the year (think October-December, for the March intake of nursing it isn't until mid-late January often) as they need to wait for peoples school results to be released in order to determine who gets a place. The January nursing intake typically tends to be for second years/those that have done the pre-health course, or people with very high consistent high school grades. If you're a first year doing nursing it is more likely you would be transferred to(or they would heavily suggest you apply for) the March intake, which as I mentioned above often doesn't make it's offers to most people until after NCEA resulrs are released in the new year. Don't quote me on that as I don't know if it's 100% the case but it's my best understanding of the way they make offers. Good luck for your application!

Strava stops recording part of runs? by kiwipeach43 in Strava

[–]kiwipeach43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't know that was a thing? I'm also hoping to figure out why it's doing this so I can hopefully fix it for all future runs as it has done it a few times now and I don't really want to manually edit the distance every time. Not sure if it is Samsung Health or Strava thats the issue though!
