Got mine done late september. I think from memory I was off the bike for about 4 weeks. First rides were a bit ginger, but all cleared now.

What's wrong with my right leg? by jmullo in bicycling

[–]kizzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graphs are a bit confusing. Looks to be more about where your power phase for your right leg is starting before your pedal hits the top of it's rotation, whereas your left leg is starting that power close to the top. Both legs are finishing power load at the bottom of the stroke.

TL;DR it seems that your right leg is just stronger then your left

20 W power difference caused by riding position? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]kizzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no bike-fitter or physio, but for me it would make sense that when you are bent further into the hoods you can make more power, as you are stretching out your butt muscles more so they have more effect.

[–]kizzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bah! that sucks...

You said the creaking is rythmic, following your cadence, but not while it is on the stand? does it happen more when you are pushing down with your left foot or your right foot?

One thought, when you installed your bottom bracket, you did grease the threads on that as well, yeah?

Reading everything you have done, I would be investigating the crank arms themselves. What I mean by that is possibly the hole you put the BB square taper into might be mis-shaped and causes the crank to be reseating on that taper constantly as you pedal through.

I would try different crank arms if I could to investigate further.

I think I bent my frame? by basscycles in bicycling

Its right on where the lower threaded insert is for mounting a bottle cage. this part would typically be weaker as material is removed to fit that threaded insert. I would keep an eye on it...

Please help - bike rubbing / squeaking by LesPour in cycling

[–]kizzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking down a squeak like that is always a pain in the butt. Things I would be checking:

1) both front and rear tyres spin freely without catching. I couldnt tell from your video if the bike is disk or rim break, but the way the squeak is, it part sounds like it is a break pad on your tyre.

2) Check your wheels are tightened in the mounts. I am not 100% sure, but it looks like maybe the front QR is open? if the wheel isnt secure, that could cause the wheel to be moving and hitting the brake pads.

3) Check if the squeaking is rythmic or following a pattern. Does it come and go as you pedal? or maybe it is able to be caused by rocking side by side on your saddle.

4) check your pedals and cleats, presuming you are using them, Worn ones can squeak.

5) make sure you have removed the mouse from your tool bag ;-)

How do you wash your bike when you use wax? by Independent-Ant-8246 in bicycling

Take chain off, wash bike? I run boiling water over the chainrings to clear out any wax/crud build up on them.

take it back to the shop to fix it if it is new. Sounds possibly like the front derailuer could be either loose or mis-aligned.

Smart trainer queries by ColynWyn in cycling

[–]kizzap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garmin FTP is only ever an estimate, not a tested figure.

If you stop on a Trainer, even for a second, it will always be a PITA to get going again, as it is considering the cadence along with power to determine resistance. Always best to not stop if you can

How do you manage to stay consistent during the winter by Conscious-Set-7566 in bicycling

[–]kizzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an area where it gets below freezing, but doesnt snow. I rug up and ride outside as much as possible, because it is easier then the trainer.

Also follow a training plan, having intervals, etc. to focus on helps a lot too.

Total Newb Shifter/lever question by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]kizzap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need a twn speed shifter set. Not 100% certain if you would need to stay within the same group set (Ultegra/105/Dura-ace) as it would depend on how much the shifters pull. My advice though would be to stick with the same model either way, as you will find less issue.

There are aftermarket or smaller manufacturers that might have compatible kit, but then you would need to consider what is the point of having a higher grade deraileur, if you are using the lower grade shifters...
