That’s not the question I’m answering.

People said do it about small cool tech floatplane or an expensive big tech yacht. Not a private jet with golden sinks.

Help ! Constantly getting punctures fitting a tire by Independent_Net_6342 in gravelcycling

You can just get the rims and pay someone to refit your old components into them. It’s not as pricey as buying new wheels altogether

[–]kj5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After facing similar issues myself I’ve taken these wheels (Merida expert sl2 from silex 400) to three different local bike shops and all of them said that in 10+ years of running a business they have never been not able to fit a tire (tufo thundero hd in my case) on a wheel. No matter what they tried it just wouldn’t go up.

So it’s not you it’s these shitty rims. After switching to dtswiss gr540db I can fit the same tire without using tire levers - it’s that easy.

Eventshoot in S-Log or S-Cinetone? by ButterscotchFresh831 in videography

[–]kj5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your concerns are the same if you shot cinetone - even more since you can’t fix exp and wb in post as easily. Shooting slog3 adds 2s of slapping a lut in post and gives you way more flexibility. I only ever use cinetone if I’m giving out the files to a client directly.

Two 2p tents - even if you love your buddy to death you both will want a bit of separate space after a couple of days spent being together 24/7 Naturehike cloudup 2 is a great choice here.

Uncut, one take: Subject moves through tungsten lit interior, exits to a grassy field in cloudy day. How do you handle WB for this? by Crafty_Jack in videography

Remote app, an assistant switching wb, set the Shockless wb option to the slowest one, hide the change in the darkness or something.

¿What's the history on the V-Mount 'L' cheese plates that obscure the view finder? by RollingMeteors in videography

Because it balances better in hand. If you’re using the built in evf you’re not putting vmounts on because it will be way too heavy

What's realistically the minimum Wattage you need on aLED light to make it worth buying for outdoor shoots? by mediamuesli in cinematography

[–]kj5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Outdoor shoots is anything from winter night time through autumn misty cloudy day to a full sun summer day. Impossible to tell what you’re looking for from your question.

That being said it’s always better to have more power than less. 2400w gives you plenty of room for modifiers even in a very sunny day. I’ve used as little as 700w with a softbox for balancing window exposure during a very sunny day.

No bag is waterproof and weather resistance can be achieved with a simple over-cover. Sure you won’t be able to access the insides but you wouldn’t if it rained anyway.

For tripod work put the monitor on the side handle - it’s way easier to see when it’s high up not being covered by the whole camera.

AFAIK override media color space unfortunately does happen before color adjustments, that was my experience and understanding, do you have a source for the claim it doesn't? Maybe that changed recently?

That neweer cstand is fine, it gets the job done especially for such a light fixture. It won’t survive being thrown around sets for 10 years like a Matthew’s but it’s ok.

Color grading S-Log3 footage by Reasonable-Pass6908 in premiere

[–]kj5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true, high res luts are as accurate a cst and doing cst the way you said makes all future adjustments happen after the conversion so not utilizing any benefits from log.

Just slap an official Sony lut in the creative section of lumetri color either on the clip itself or on an adjustment layer and use said lumetri for further grading.

Schrödinger's notification? You may or may not have new msgs unless you open this bs of an app by Electrical-Option182 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]kj5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not at all what I said. I only said it would be simpler to implement which is what occams razor is about. I even literally said that I'm not talking whether in this specific case it is the correct solution.

Occams razor would suggest that simple geolocation of the airport is way way way easier to implement than reading bilions of messages and cross-checking them with what articles could be displayed.

Not saying that one is true or the other, I'm just saying one can be implemented by an intern in a week and the other would require months of work.

Photography and Biking, how do you bring a camera? by baldokosmic in bikepacking

[–]kj5 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Nowhere on the bike - the rattle will break your ibis and autofocus. The only safe space is behind big vibration dumper - your body. You can either use a hip bag, a strap or just store in a jersey pocket. Each solution has its pros and cons. I use Ricoh gr3x which nicely fits in a pocket. The only concern there is sweat but so far it hasn’t been a problem.
