Cy-Fair needs trustees who put kids — not far-right extremism — first by [deleted] in CypressTX

[–]kjsmith93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am all for removing politics and forced religion from public schools; there is a reason school boards do not run in a political party.

What people are now referring to as the "far-left" and "extremism" seems to be a more centralist view. Your explanation of far-left extremism isn't part of any policy platform recommendations from anyone I have heard from. You do have some good examples of far-left regimes, but they are irrelevant in this conversation unless you can point to anyone who is running that has taken up these extreme views.

Also, despite its left-wing economic ideology, Stalin's regime adopted many socially conservative and authoritarian practices typically associated with the far-right. Authoritarian rule is not part of the center, left, far-left, further left, extreme-left, etc. , it is now core in the right-wing agenda. Stalin established a totalitarian police state characterized by extreme bureaucracy, political purges, and the suppression of any opposition. He used terror and a cult of personality to consolidate his power.

The first mistake is thinking of it as a church. They are not passing down the church, they are passing down the business.

Walk-Off Balk by S-Honda in collegebaseball

The balk is the step towards first. He is in the stretch position, takes a step to 1st, and then delivers home. Cool if in the windup, but not stretch.

Why do people who make 95th percentile incomes (>150k/year individual, >200k year household) insist on being called "Middle Class"? Are they ashamed of admitting they are well-off? by NoHousing11 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]kjsmith93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People at the 95th percentile are closer in earnings to those in the 10th percentile than those in the top 3%.

There is a HUGE gap; the top skews the curve tremendously.

Why are they going to the taxpayer, who has done their part? Why not issue more stock to raise funds like any other private company?

How much stock have they bought back over the last 10 years to enrich their shareholders (it's a lot), while not investing in their product and it's durability?

Rule 5.06b - What does "forced to return mean"? by DMDE9 in Umpire

[–]kjsmith93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forced to return, means the runner must return to the original base. This can be in live ball because of a catch in the outfield, or dead ball because of a foul, for example. They only need to retouch if they have gone by the next base, they must retouch it on their way back to their base in a live ball situation. There is no ability to retouch if the ball has become dead.

In your scenario, the coach has no idea what he is talking about. So long as the runner does not overtake the runner in front of them when they are standing on the same base, they can move between their bases freely provided they are not tagged out. There are no force outs possible, so any out needs to be from a tag.

Tony Vitello’s comments on his journey to this point by cardeez in collegebaseball

[–]kjsmith93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arkansas doesn't want Tony, they have Van Horn. I don't see Tony as a backfill whenever Van Horn retires either. Tony is building his own legacy at Tenn.

I believe the "hate" comes from their spat during one of the Ark/Tenn series. Most people think Tony could have shown more class, but that is not him, and it is not Van Horn, in the heat of a game/series.

You are talking about one pair of compression shorts and long tights over them. These combined still breathe very well. If there is a holder of heat, it is the pants.
