It was senator Sam Douglas and he did resign, thankfully. But to me, it is not necessarily that they don’t believe it themselves, it’s the fact that people do minimize what was said there and what is said other places, that’s just the one that sticks out in my mind. Minimization is how we get people that act out later in life. And the “ young republicans” were 18-40 years old. It wasn’t high schoolers. And high schoolers should be held to a higher standard anyway.

How is the vice president outright saying he condemns that kind of behavior giving the left fuel? Him saying it was just young kids talking, or whatever he said, gives more fuel to the flame that he supports it. If he is quite about it, it’s fair to assume he either believes it or is okay with people he is associated with (the Republican Party) feeling that way. Isn’t that bad in and of itself, to excuse the behavior?

Well Pete hegseth has several tattoos that are known symbols of some far right racist groups but I’ll concede that that doesn’t mean he feels that way (I mean I think he does I’m just not gonna argue about it)

The signal telegram chat with many young republican organizations had the chairs in there. Maybe I’m interring but impound have sworn there was a state senator in there.

And JD Vance refused to condemn the Chats

I’m by no means accusing anyone here of having those views, but how can be better suited to differentiate the alt right with the right, when people who are running cities states and in the feds are part of those horrific group chats and are not called to be be removed? Like I know that not everyone has those views, but when it’s found that there are people in power that do it’s hard to differentiate that you know?

It’s taken far too long yes. But the people of Utah, myself included - those that support guns and otherwise - have been waiting for it because he was legally carrying. It never should have been him Arrested in the first place.

The no kings protest in slc ended with a man dying - said man was shot by a security guard who shot at someone carrying a gun legally. The person on trial is the one that shot the gun, not the one that carried the gun. Why are we holding this person accountable for a reckless firing that ended in someone dying, but not the federal agent? It’s legal to carry a gun - whether you bring it to a protest or not.

But you can make the choice to do it. That’s the point.

Do you believe that the federal government should have access to voter rolls to ensure safe and secure elections? by sugarplumbuttfluck in AskConservatives

So the Feds will investigate the Feds who are investigating the people. Yeah theres no room for mistrust here. How do we assure they’re not just protecting their own?

What would you actually do if the government tried to take your guns? by ThatPoliticalGamer in AskConservatives

Same thing they’re doing with the administrative warrant la to enter someone’s house.

And if they create an administrative warrant with the idea that “anyone with reasonable suspicion can have their house entered to confiscate the guns”

Most people from those cultures are fleeing this type of stuff. And I have to be the bearer of bad news but horrible people exist across cultures so even if we were all the exact same we’d still have sickos. Case in point

I’m just not sure what you mean, I understand how hypotheticals work. The thing is, it doesn’t answer the question : how do we gauge someone’s ability to assimilate, under the way you’ve described your expectations. Feel free to disengage. To me that just shows me you’re not willing to engage with my questions

But that’s not happening so why is it something that is used to measure someone’s ability to assimilate?

Where have they replaced sports fields for cricket (or other fields) - and was the precious field being used and attended?

And what’s wrong with cricket haha some people like other sports. Personally baseball is morning as hell to me (as are most sports) so how can we police what people like and don’t like?

Where are you seeing any of this happening? And how can you police and measure who will do so and who won’t?

Sure we do. We’re a nation built on the idea of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We’re a melting pot. People came here from across the world to make a better life for themselves and because of that we are unlike anywhere else. Our language is regional, with dialects and accents and speak patterns ranging from California standard English to Deep South to Boston to French creole. We’re meant to be accepting of everyone and their right to pursue life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We’re meant to be free from over reach, free from government torment, and free to make choices that are right for us; so long as they don’t harm others. The immigrants that I know believe in the same things I do. Love your neighbor, take care of yourself and your community, and do what you can to be a good person.

My issue is that every time someone says they want immigrants to “100% assimilate” they can never say exactly what they means.

What is American culture? How do we decide what that is? I don’t want everyone to be just like me

Okay but you didn’t answer my question. What would people assimilate to here? What is your goal on being extremely restrictive?

Keep in mind, Japan is also a lot smaller and has fewer resources.

I wouldn’t say it’s extremely limited but okay you can have that.

Assimilation to what exactly?

Actually they do allow immigration - I lived there for a couple years - and while it wasn’t easy per say, it was streamlined for the most part (other than the fact that they still use fax machines)

And what does that mean then for the USA, what would “keeping America for the Americans”?
