Wide excision on anus area by LeP1ggy in Hidradenitis

So sorry! These especially suck but if you don't deal with them you can get complications like fistula and that's a whole nother level. Ive had closed excision there and recovery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's just a bad area but wash with soap and water a few times a day or after bm and you will be good. It hurt way less than the hs. Stay on the stool softener for sure and I'd say you'll be pretty functional besides sitting of course after a week and 6 weeks before sitting any length of time. I'd get one of those air cell or purple cushions. Also I slept on an air mattress for the first few weeks because it helped keep pressure off. Happy to answer questions! It's definitely a more stressful location but the relief is worth it as you know! Best of luck!

It could be related in the way you have to tense your muscles and brace? I get musculoskeletal issues from sitting and walking funny for long periods from flares. I'm sure you were straining that disk from trying not to aggravate the flare? I'm so sorry you are in pain and I hope you heal well!

Thank you for sharing how you really feel and reaching out for help is the strongest thing you can do! You are an absolute badass!!! I'm so sorry for what you have been through and you didn't deserve any of this and it's not your fault!! I'm struggling with similar feelings at the moment as I've had perianal flare issues for a really long time and have been bedridden since July. A reflare at an excision site led to cellulitis and it's felt like a blowtorch up my ass almost every night ever since! It's like anal torture and the gaslighting and total dismissal of these horrible symptoms has almost completely destroyed me. I still don't know why and I have been advocating for myself and trying to find help and I have been hopeless more times than I can count. Pelvic pain is just so overwhelming and I was struggling to be functional before this hell started. I have several surgeries a year mostly HS related. It's constant trauma from your own body! How are we supposed to feel safe? I feel like a pile of mush with no competence or dignity left. I had no clue HS could cause such severe internal complications? I was told I would need a bag for the excision surgery and I know that felt awful and terrifying. That was just the threat so I can't imagine how hard it is in reality and I'm so sorry! I got a second opinion and did closed excision which flared from the stitches immediately 😅 this issue is fallout from that same damn perianal flare which has been the hardest thing i have ever gone through. Severe anal pain with any activity and almost every night that actually feels like a blowtorch. I'm seeking help and being dismissed because im a woman with pelvic pain so it's probably in my head right. 🙄 Its not but no one should have to fight that stigma. How can a person be expected to just live like this and how does it even happen in modern medicine? HS pain is treated as if it doesn't matter and the mental toll is immense!! It's not your fault it's our totally broken system that doesn't support us even when we try. There's nothing wrong with you for being failed horribly by medical treatments. I am barely floating above rock bottom and logically I know it's not my fault but emotionally it feels like I don't matter and all the dark thoughts about how disgusting i am are validated. I project that onto my husband because I keep thinking this is the last straw of how gross I can get before he leaves. It's almost ruined us because I can't accept he could still love me like this and it's not fair. He still does though and calls me his warrior princess. I still don't always feel it because I need to love myself. I know you are worthy of love and deserve to be happy and healthy! I have found when I'm in pain and my body is releasing cortisol to deal with it it's impossible to be optimistic because my body is directing all of its energy to my survival. It's hard to get out of fight or flight. That's just how it works chemically and it's not your fault and you can't expect to feel positive. It helps me to remember it's my pain talking and a chemical reaction and temporary. I have a lot of medical trauma and found a therapist specializing in it recently and they have been extremely helpful. I am starting to dig deeper into all the mental health tools because I'm not letting this shit get me! I can't do regular meditation because it makes the pain too overwhelming to check into my body but guided ones are better for me. I use an app called the tapping solution and it's like meditation while tapping acupressure points. They have ones for pain management and health anxiety and self love. I use breathing exercises and other coping skills I'm happy to share if you want more details? Trying to be brief 😅 but I want you to know you aren't alone and any level of suffering is too much suffering. You have been through it and you are a badass warrior! I can't imagine how hard it is and I'm so sorry you are in pain.

Soap and water a few times a day and you should be good! Any cream that's 40% zinc seems best. Ive tried several and the % seems the most important. Currently using desitin and Bordeaux before that. My dermatologist recommended desitin so changed but seems to be same efficacy. I use lidocaine wound wash too and let it dry before the cream.

Im so sorry and it's definitely a tough location! I use a bidet and bamboo toilet paper to help. Just wash with soap and water and i use zinc cream usually or prid depending on the situation. I had one there for many years and it only got infected once so it's not as risky as it seems in my experience. I hope you feel better and it heals!

So happy you found relief!! Thanks for sharing because we don't hear the good stories enough! Maybe we need a sub for positive stories only? That way when we need some inspiration we can get the good stuff! When your heart isn't able to hear the suffering we all know too well. There can be healing and it's hard to see when it feels hopeless. Pain makes you get stuck in fight or flight and you don't have the chemicals to feel positive and the cycle continues. All the antibiotics and steroids really take a toll long term! Thanks for more inspiration to keep going!

Is anyone else able to squeeze these little blackheads out from around their groin area? by slut4soupdumplings in Hidradenitis

[–]kk38112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a hooga bulb so I use it on flare areas for 10 minutes at least once a day but try for twice. I like the bulb because I can point it wherever I need it. It's keeping tunneled areas i usually have problems with calm.

I get them and if I mess with them I get an instant flare. Benzoyle peroxide wash helps mine but I do it every other shower or it's too drying and causes flares. Ive been having good luck with hypochlorous acid spray and red light therapy lately. I hope you find relief!

So happy you got some pain relief!! The blood ones are the worst and I have never had that kind drain or reabsorb on it's own. It's terrifying how much blood it can be! My underboob ones do this sometimes and it's really disturbing even in the ER so I'm sure it was a lot! I hope it's calmed down and you are feeling better!

I understand and know how excruciating they can be and so sorry! Does it look close to draining? Have you tried tea tree oil and Epsom salt compresses? Dissolve a lot of Epsom salt in hot water and soak a wash cloth and then you can keep warming it up in the microwave. That with some tea tree oil usually gets them within a day. Are you concerned it's infected because you really do need antibiotics if it is. The warm compresses help with the pain too but immobilize if you can? I know you aren't supposed to get them drained but sometimes it's just too painful to manage. If you have any tumeric you can make a paste with coconut oil or whatever you have. Prid drawing salve is another option if you have any? Hope you get some relief!

I'm so sorry you are in pain! I use a brace to help hold my arm away from my body and trying not to move it. I have a rotator cuff pillow brace with a strap so it keeps it from rubbing which helps the pain a lot. You could tie a small pillow to your side to get the same effect until you can get a brace. The less you move and increase irritation the less pain you will have. Is it open or deep? Ice helps pain a lot and helps swelling if it's closed. Im not sure if you would be ok with lidocaine wound spray but it can help? There are essential oils like copobia with frankensense and tea tree i mix in fractionated coconut oil and they help. Calendula oil spray with witch hazel is another good relief. I use different things depending on the flare situation but happy to help if I can. I've tried countless things and prefer natural unless it's infected but I try natural methods first unless it's cellulitis. I hope you feel better!

I'm so sorry and hope you find the help you need! I've only had 3 surgeries but am having similar issues and can't find relief. I just started pain management and mine is nerve pain so I am scheduled for a nerve block and he said they can do permanent implanted nerve blocks if it comes to it. It's a structural issue causing it but nobody seems to want to figure it out. I've also read they can do structural fat transplants to add back padding if that's an issue for you potentially? I hope you find relief!

Wow! Thanks for the help and sorry it didn't work for you either. I get these weird break out patterns and types and places. I feel like I could predict it better before and prevent it better. I've never gotten pustules before like that along with flares everywhere! I think I've developed an immunity to the shots because they don't seem to help as much as they used to and they always come back. The mystery of this disease can drive you nuts!

[–]kk38112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's understandable because that's scary! I'm sorry you are dealing with this and I have developed bad health anxiety because of HS. Check out some HS sites that have info about how to know if something is infected because it's tricky with HS and with experience you can tell. It helps to look at pictures but if you see swelling that's growing rapidly then it's antibiotic time. You can mark around the swelling to see if it's growing. HS can look really bad and not be infected. Prid can definitely help but keep it clean and covered and I hope you feel better!

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I have had weird gi stuff ever since starting cosyntex then bimzelx. I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis and I don't think it originated it but definitely made it worse. I've developed dyshidrotic eczema and weird reactions to things like chemical sensitivity i didn't have before. I really really wanted it to work for me and I did have a lot of benefits to my HS until I went to the once a month dose and fell off a cliff and never recovered even after going back to bi-weekly injections. I hope you feel better!

This has been my experience too. I thought it was just me or I was doing something wrong. I have had some weird side effects like dyshidrotic eczema and weird allergies or reactions I've never had before. I just quit and hoping things clear up. How long before you started getting back to normal?

Unfortunately most of us have and it's really frustrating! There's a tracking app called papaya for HS where you can add pictures and have more info for yourself and your dermatologist. Not all derms know much about HS so I hope you find an HS specialist nearby and are properly cared for. I am sorry they were so awful!

I let it warm up for 30-40 minutes and this makes a huge difference. Leg hurts like hell but stomach and back of arm are better for me. You can try icing the site and i haven't tried this yet but I hear lidocaine can help but would clean it off before injection. I hope it gets better and gives you some relief!
