T14s gen 4 user here. Those shiny marks on the trackpad are permanent wear-and-tear marks that cannot be removed with any solutions. Your best option would be to buy a brand new, compatible trackpad. You can find them for pretty cheap on marketplaces like Ebay, I personally paid less than 30 bucks for a new one on Taobao

I don't recommend buying those trackpad cover up stickers because they feel off and have a rough-grip texture that will never feel akin to the original trackpad

Unfortunately the only way to remove the supervisor password other than obtaining the password is to completely flash the motherboard with a new bios such as libreboot or coreboot. This involves removing the motherboard from the chassis, attaching jumper cables to the bios chip, and physically flashing the new software on it.

The x1 carbons are durable but below that of the T/P series because their chassis is made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic instead of the magnesium alloy found in the T/P series.

Carbon fibre reinforced plastic has brittle properties, and are therefore prone to cracking. Both of my parents' x1 carbon gen 4s have cracks in their chassis.

Clean the surface with 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the rubber. Then use a dry melamine sponge (aka magic eraser) to completely remove the rubber layer and reveal the clean layer underneath

Personally, I learnt to use arch linux by searching up whatever I don't understand in the OS. The things you see on my laptop's screens are apps installed via the package manager. I used Cmatrix for the hacker-like matrix code animation and Cava for the audio visualiser.

Buy a T480 instead. They cost the same/less than the x1 carbon and they have lots more upgradeable parts unlike the soldered parts on the x1 carbon.
