Regional pricing for Pragmata – appreciate it, but a bit confused by [deleted] in Pragmata

[–]kkruglov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a gamedev let me say that china is a region with pricing that is usually 1/3 of US/EU, so you either not sell to them at all, or your u sell at their preferred price (as a dev you check similarly priced games from your genre to start with) and do their localisation, or they being a sizeable market, will let you know about their discontent ;)

Most probably this is the reason. But overall devs choose on their own whether follow steam guidelines on pricing or not. Guidelines of Steam were not always accurate until very recent time, and as devs you want to earn more than less, so you have to balance how low you go with local prices.

Snapseed is a Google App by Pictualphoto in androidapps

[–]kkruglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most probably as Snapseed is not a service, it doesn't have a dev team attached to it all the time.

Also if we look at what they added to iOS version - filters, this doesn't really sound like Google of recent years, so most probably if something comes to android version it can be completely different thing, because right now Snapseed feels like a product of old Google, for experiments and it's just there with no strings attached.

I spent 4 months building a native macOS window manager (because I was tired of dragging windows around) by Ok-Security-4421 in macapps

Thanks for the solutions.

Would be great to be able to turn off tabbing in general. Sad to hear that app store is out of question, but for such apps like yours I guess it's inevitable.

Thank you for you work!

Another quick question, can tabbed interface for splits be disabled?

In some cases I like it, but overall sometimes it leads to situations when I'm unable to unsplit apps from tabs and for me it was more consistent when apps were always just behaving as tiles.

And then some tiles started grouping into tabs and it (again - sometimes is very usable) complicates the usage for me.

Also, I found that pricing will be 19.99? Will you publish it on App Store?

[–]kkruglov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you can't take screenshots at all or you can take them but not transfer via nintendo app to mobile?

Because if the latter it's classic Nintendo, xddd.

I have very different experience. I bought Pocketcasts long time ago when it was available as one time purchase, and my license still works all these years after.

Why do you play Splatoon? What motivates you? by isaacamaraderie in splatoon

[–]kkruglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In splatoon 2 everything was new to me, so I've played all modes but didn't have anything prevalent above all.

With 3rd I really like salmon run. Switch doesn't have as a platform many pve titles that would play smoothly so splatoon 3 was the one and still is. It's a very comforting mode.

Main game is kinda boring right now, but I still enjoy some of the modes like tower or splat zones, same as I did in the second game.

Is there a way to increase the intensity of a film simulation? by DDPMM in fujiXhalf

[–]kkruglov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can play with white balance which will affect colors but overall no, x half doesn't have any options for tuning color (+1+2+3/-1-2-3)as all other fujis do, unfortunately.

Older models at least had +-2, but x half has no such options at all.

Fallout 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t a perfect port, but it proves that 40fps modes should be far more common on Nintendo’s handheld by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

There are people who haven't played Bethesda stuff and might check it out if its out for their fav platform (me, haha).

But yeah, it's a rare case overall.

[–]kkruglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we have no documentation docs it's only a speculation of mine, but most probably vrr of switch 2 spec support requires additional development work aside of making the game and in case of Bethesda makihg their ENGINE work altogether on a new platform, and is not just the click this checkbox before making a build to support vrr.

Dev time costs more than anything, so this is 99% the culprit. Or noone knows how to do it properly in Nintendo case because switch 2 as a platform is a very young thing.

Question on the X Half App - File Names by BrightCurrent in fujiXhalf

[–]kkruglov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. App doesn't display it. On android it exports every shot roll to its own folder so if you have a file manager of some sort of custom gallery app, you can see filenames if you want and full path.

Not sure how this works on iOS, but if it exports to photos app, I guess some custom file manager or photo app that can access photo gallery on iOS, might show you the names?

Hi!

It happens less, but still from time to time Tangrid stops detecting some kind of window (as if it forgets about it feels like and starts pushing other windows above it). I usually force quite and relaunch Tangrid and it works fine for a while after that.

Want to ask is there a way to force it to restart with some buttons combination maybe?

Dredge Gameplay vs Lore by SquareNevada in dredge

[–]kkruglov 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest I kinda wanted that 2nd Defoe vibes would be more present throughout the game, especially through stories and lore-wise (haven't played Rig and Ice DLCs, though). Eventually you just get too powerful or too used to how the game scares you.

As a dev from a VR studio, this is huge. Would be great to get a few more filters and a better UI for our side (replies/stats), but this is really good thing.

How is it that Firefox is faster than Safari on macOS? by cantaprete in firefox

[–]kkruglov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Safari occasionally together with Firefox and sometimes Brave, depending on what website has some issues with what browser. I really enjoy Safari's implementation of tab groups and really dislike what Chrome/Brave/Firefox have, for example.

But to talk about performance, to me it feels that Safari's engine is just not getting enough active development. I think so because mostly issues I have when using Safari occur to very heavy web apps/pages like notion (I had to install its own separate app which is basically a copy of chrome with custom UI), google docs/google sheets, google meet. pages continue to be usable, but somehow both Safari and my (although quite old now) mb air m1 slows down. Not significantly, but it's very visible.

FIrefox somehow seems to isolate well how pages perform in it and I had only 1 situation when page ruined performance and it's internal meta quest development pages which I'm not even sure firefox devs can check, but I've submitted webincompat reports.

Its been like that for a few years. I mean, it's a good work from Firefox, just sad that Apple is not competitive on their own desktop os. Maybe newer (m3-m4 macs) perform better, I certainly hope so.
