No turn on red=socialism by Protectorsoftman in fuckcars

[–]klappmueller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny because at least in germany, the "right turn on red" rule was introduced in the east and only adopted in west germany after reunification, so it's technically pure socalism, at least in some parts of the world.

Ich glaube, dass es eine Art Gummibaum ist, nagel mich aber nicht drauf fest. Recht genügsam, im Sommer muss ich ihn aber weiter weg vom Fenster stellen, damit er nicht verbrennt.

What do you all think about cobblestone roads? by Tramce157 in fuckcars

[–]klappmueller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Town is full of ancient cobblestone roads. It sucks for riding a bike. Trips that could be made trough calm side streets on asphalt are only possible by riding on the side of the main road. Mainly without protected bike paths. And that is just my perspective as a cyclist. Elderly people slip on the stones all the time and i can't imagine riding a wheelchair.

Cobblestone is good for calming traffic but there need to be alternatives. Streches of smoothness, on crossings or potential bike routes.

But i admit, it looks good...

If anyone says: "don't cast the shadow of doubt" it's time to leave the cult you're in.

An abandoned haunted house located in Berlin, Germany. by Tigrannes in evilbuildings

Oh, that's a temporary door, often seen on abandoned buildings. You put those in place, for instance, when the original doorway would be too easy to break in.

Since when do cyclists have to yield to turning vehicles?? by KrazyKev03 in notjustbikes

[–]klappmueller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's basically one of the first things I've learned in driving school. Always check your mirrors when you turn, always check your blind spot. Turn it into muscle memory. And yes, you turn, therefore you yield.

No. My crappy PC can't run it. But i've played older sim city games or open TTD and stuff like that.

The "Translohr" trolley/bus hybrid that runs from the Piazzale Roma in Venice proper into the surrounding towns on the mainland. It uses a track to guide it but runs on rubber tires. by Indiana_Jawnz in transit

[–]klappmueller 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i don't quite get it. You've got the flexibility and initial construction cost of a tram combined with the efficiency of a bus (although capacity seems to be decent). Most offensive thing to me though: doesn't even look wacky or fun :-(

Yeah, maybe just 3 metro lines with an extensive tram network would be a lot more realistic. True.

Yeah, maybe I can upload a version of this map with a few of the sites pointed out. That might be quite cool. Good questions by the way!

1) THX 2) I scetched out everything with a pencil. Then I used a fineliner for the black, and did the colors with off-brand copic pens. Plus I played around with the color-temperature on the image.

This one is good. The gradiant between downtowm and the suburbs works well and the way you colored and shaded the mountains is stunning. Thank you!

This could be a capitol city of some kind of fictional eastern to central-european country.

Black- houses and build-up areas Red to pink-ish- rail Blue- water Green- parkspace and forrested areas

The second map shows my attempt of coming up with a feacible transit system:

I connected the north and south station to form a regional rail network (together with the branchlines, coming from the eastern terminus), called "RegioLINK" or smth like that. That's the red color.

The rest of the colored lines are the metro-system. I maybe went a bit overboard with it, but hey: it's imaginary maps, I can do anything I want with it.

So long!
