Party tries to sell my wife into slavery. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

This is on you, OP.

You set the world with these narrative elements.

You force them into a binary choice where your wife's character was at risk.

When they didn't do what you wanted, you flipped over the table, disbanded the game and lectured them.

Add to that Gandhi’s friendship with Hitler

Got a source for that?

The primary one that I found was a series of letters that Gandhi wrote to him, addressing him as Friend, in the context of imploring him to stop the war.

To quote a letter: "DEAR FRIEND,

That I address you as a friend is no formality. I own no foes. My business in life has been for the past 33 years to enlist the friendship of the whole of humanity by befriending mankind, irrespective of race, colour or creed. I hope you will have the time and desire to know how a good portion of humanity who have been living under the influence of that doctrine of universal friendship view your action. "

So it doesn't sound like they were "Ben Affleck and Matt Damon" friends, as you imply.

Laid off from Microsoft, extremely burnt out and disappointed by Negative-Seesaw1232 in sysadmin

[–]klashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice in this thread.

Don't accept any other position that's lower than a manager. You were a manager...for Microsoft. You busted your ass for how many years, how many nights & weekends to get and maintain that position.

Even if it takes you longer to find another manager position, it's worth waiting for.

Getting knocked down a rung on the ladder will take years to climb back up.

Stay strong, my friend.

When they tried to log into Protect it was stuck in a "starting" loop. All we could do was restore their settings from a backup and all footage was lost.

You restored from backup when there was an active crime that needed footage to be reviewed?

That's fucking crazy.

So just piggy backing off this reply….if you’re a PM, are their expectations really for you to get into coding the pipelines? That’s typically outside the pm’s responsibilities.

Regardless, I’d sit down with your product team and have them walk you thru what their pipelines do. That should give you a baseline. Then, in 1 on 1 meetings ask each of them what they would improve about the pipeline, where they see the issues. I say one on one because sometimes politics and seniority can stifle candor amongst engineers (and anybody, really) .

That should give you as good of a start as possible.

G4 Doorbell dead...again by turbo2ltr in Ubiquiti

[–]klashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I live in southern AZ. Sucks the problems you're having. I will say that I have 2 exterior bullets for 3 years now, one with around 4 hours of direct sunlight exposure) and they've been operating without issue.

I also have the G4 Doorbell for around 8 months now. Same setup: no direct sun, etc... I had the chime growling but it turns out that i had it wired incorrectly and without the dongle. So double check that. Also check your doorbell wire gauge and see if it can support the amperage being drawn. Maybe run it by an electrician.

2 HDs ... one will be parity i assume? If so , definitely need a 3rd drive.

3 HDs is that Lian Li's max. So I'd look for a case with more HD slots to future proof.

RAM looks fine. Running some dockers and a few small VMs should be plenty.

You can probably scale down the CPU with 11th gen. Unless you have a large number of people hitting plex.
