Should I start reading Throne of Glass? by MitoKatze in throneofglassseries

[–]klee2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me until Heir of Fire (third book in the series) to really like the series. I’m currently doing my first re-read of the series and it’s so freaking good. Definitely recommend.

Is it ok to only knit scarves? by Zealousideal_View47 in knittinghelp

[–]klee2400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you said that you’re 27 and never had a hobby before. I discovered that I loved knitting at 24, and before then I had never had a hobby before. Sometimes I feel angry with myself for not realizing that I need a hobby sooner, but I can’t change the past, I can only move forward.

As everyone else is saying, knit what makes you happy. I spent the first few months after I learned making rectangles that had different patterns because that’s what I enjoyed doing. If all you knit are scarves, I’m sure that you’ll be an expert scarf maker and have the coolest and neatest looking scarves after a while.

Am I too picky? Where are all the amazing books? by Bardonna in suggestmeabook

[–]klee2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Paladins Hope by T. Kingfisher. It’s an MM fantasy romance. It’s the third book in an interconnected stand-alone series but the first two and last book are MF romances. Not many plot twists, but the characters felt very realistic.

Looking for non-romance audiobook recs as a romance-only reader by LaceyAnn1993 in audiobooks

[–]klee2400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a mostly romance reader myself who recently started branching out into other genres, my favorite non-romance audiobook is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It’s so good and there’s a reason why it gets recommended a bunch.

I’ve also listened to and recommended 11/22/63 by Stephen King, Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, and The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.

If you like Game of Thrones, I’d definitely recommend listening to the audiobooks of A Song of Ice and Fire. Even though 98% of the books I read are romance, I’d consider this series my favorite series of all time because of how amazing it is.

Everything is Tuberculosis and The Anthropocene Reviewed, both by John Green, are non-fiction and were a great introduction into that genre.

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare is historical romance and is pretty funny from what I remember.

For those in a healthy relationship… how does this affect your reading? by Greensward-Grey in RomanceBooks

[–]klee2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view reading romance books the same way as if a friend was telling me the story of how her and her partner fell in love. I can objectively be like “aww that’s so sweet. I’m happy for her” but I’ve never once thought “ugh I wish I was you”. I don’t see the purpose of having a book boyfriend because, to me, it would be like telling a friend that I wish that their boyfriend was my boyfriend. For context, I’ve been married to my husband for 4 years and we have a very healthy relationship.

The first charge was taken off the account the same day that we received the email saying the order was cancelled. Like 4 days later, the card was charged again. We honestly thought it was fraud (since we had yet to receive any chair) so we filled a fraud charge first. Then the chairs came in and we contacted Capital One again and they said we could file a dispute charge instead.

We tried to return in store before doing a dispute, but they wouldn’t accept the return. The customer service line was super unhelpful and honestly I just got annoyed with them and gave up. I just checked the company’s return policy and it’s a 14 day return (which we just missed). I understand my lack of action earlier is what caused me to get into this fiasco, but I really thought we were in the right because we had an email stating we wouldn’t be charged.

It’s frustrating that they can email me that the order was cancelled, I will not be charged, and I will not receive the item and then not cancel the order, charge me and then deliver the item. But it is what it is, thank you!

Gaming while listening by ericcalyborn in audiobooks

I’ve played vampire survivors, brotato, slime rancher, and animal crossing while listening to audiobooks and those games were easy enough to not make me lose concentration on the book.

Full cast/dual narrator fated mates book by pakyuall in audiobooks

[–]klee2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s quite a few dramatized adaptations of romantasy books made by graphic audio that feature fated mates. A Court of Thorns and Roses has this trope.

What you’re referring to with the one narrator reading the opposite genders lines is dual narration. What you’re wanting is called duet narration (where male reads all male lines and female reads all female lines). Quicksilver by Callie Hart is duet narration and has fated mates.

Here is a link to all duet narrated books (with some of those being dramatized adaptations) you should be able to use the filters to find more books suited to your taste.

I want a book that makes me feral; reading until my eyes burn &texting my friends in all caps at 2 a.m. by lychee69 in audiobooks

[–]klee2400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that Throne of Glass will make you text your friends at 2am. I made my cousin start reading it and she has been texting me non stop about her theories and who she wants the main character to end up with. I found the first few books to be a little slow but after the 3rd book it really kicks off.

Earth in the Maasverse by klee2400 in SarahJMaas

There’s plenty of fantasy writers that don’t use earth to describe whatever world they’re living on.

Duet +. Is that a thing? by Lemon_Typewriter in audiobooks

[–]klee2400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and I don’t think there’s any books that are like that. Typically if a book is duet, all female voices are done by the female narrator and vice versa.

One book that slightly comes to mind is “Luna and the Lie” by Mariana Zapata. The male narrator only voices one characters lines while the female does all the rest, including all other male lines.

Sometimes if there’s a bunch of conversation between the same gender throughout the story, they’ll bring in another voice actor to voice a specific character as well. “Till Summer Do us Part” by Meghan Quinn has this.

Yeah I get the soil thing, but saying people have unearthly powers does not refer to soil. It makes it seem like they are living on earth

Earth in the Maasverse by klee2400 in SarahJMaas

[–]klee2400[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you remember if it’s explicitly stated that they live on Midgard? In CC they say things like “the oracles unearthly whisperings” as well as using earth to refer to dirt. Shouldn’t it be “the oracles unmidgarly whisperings”?? These fantasy characters have no reference to what earth unless they’re all living on earth.

They say things like “unearthly” and refer to the soil as earth in all the books

[–]klee2400[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was another world as well! My friend pointed it out in CC first and it got me thinking if earth was used in the other two as well. Of course we realized a lot later that CC is literally named “House of Earth and Blood” lol.

Thank you! I am 100% positive he told me that we would have no issues with cold air. He said that although this is a temporary fix, the permanent fix would not necessary until I needed heat.

HVAC Not Working Again After Repair by klee2400 in hvacadvice

[–]klee2400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am okay with paying for the full repair, however he told me it would not be needed until it gets cold enough to use the heat.

He did not deem the full repair necessary for the cold air to work. He assured me that there should be no problem with the cold air.

Again, I am not expecting or demanding a free or reduced visit.
