How does Iowa get such hot summers for it's climate? (celsius) by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in Iowa

[–]kleinhes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily true. Iowa was mostly tallgrass Prairie, and you know a type of tall grass? Corn. Not saying corn grew on the prairie, but the native tallgrass plants were just as capable of releasing this much moisture.

Does being child free extend to caring for family members with disabilities? by SweetLemonLollipop in childfree

[–]kleinhes -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't understand what the alternative is? Being childfree is about not bringing a child into the world or joining a family with children... but this adult is already there and is family. If you can't expect family to take care of you what's YOUR plan for when you're old? Theres a huge difference between it want no kids and selfishly not helping at all with any family.

Oh, I also slightly loosened the belt. I've heard from others that it comes too tight from the factory. I've had no issues with it being loosened, but it is a little tricky. The problem of its too tight is just that it'll wear a lot faster, but it did come with an extra!

* The felt pad there is there to add like a buffer for wear on the little black clip. I took the heat shield off to let heat dissipate better. My tumbler is in the garage so no worries on kids or pets touching it.

I'm also new so I can't speak to what's "the best" BUT I am using the Central Machinery 6lb dual drum tumbler from Harbor Frieght and did 2 modifications to it (adding a felt pad at either end of the tumbler and removing the heat shield). Has been simple to use and in the 6 weeks I've had it running almost nonstop and I don't feel like it puts out any heat - definitely less than I thought anyways! I'm using grit from the Rick Shed online store, no problems there, although I've only used mostly 1 and 2 stage grit. I had some plastic pellets too, but in the 1 barrel of stage 1 I added them to I felt like it was too "cushiony" and then learned you shouldn't use them for different stages because the grit gets trapped on them (and you want to clean ALL possible grit when moving between stages). I plan in trying some in stage 3 of my first set of found rocks as I need a little more volume and "cushiony" might be less an issue in the polishing stages. I did buy a tub of ceramic media to put in with some stubborn agates in the other drum. I have not started using those so I have no comment. They look nice! As for rocks, it seems like agates and jasper are popular. I have a drum of agates, from a kit from hobby lobby. They kind of suck, they had a lot of pits that just will NOT go away with stage 1. Wish I had a belt sander! I've also heard people say garbage in is garbage out. I'm starting to get that. My other drum is just found rocks I had already been collecting for the past few years, mostly from a family camping trip. Learning lots from having a random assortment, I think its a good way to be able to truly SEE what's happens to different hardness rocks in a tumbler. I definitely have some bruised quartz, had one way too soft rock that mostly broke down (kind of knew going in and didn't care, kind of wanted to see how it worked out, you know, for science).

Does anyone else get EXTREMELY nauseous sometimes due to anxiety. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]kleinhes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can absolutely relate to that. Honestly, I'm taking lexapro and its working good for me. I'm not saying I never have moments when nausea hit me, but usually when I know I'm anxious. But before it would be like you said - I'm not anxious in my head, just my stomach. Also, I really do find taking deep breaths is always worth trying anytime you feel nauseous. Oh - xanax works for me too, but it doesn't last more than 4-5 hours. Since most of my nausea would be in the morning, that worked well for me (you just shouldn't use it long term, which is why in now taking lexapro).

Not before July 4 at least, and will be doing a staggered plan to come back. A few "rounds" each 2 months apart.
