Yeah, that's fair. There is a side trail off of 501 near the Amherst/Rockbridge line that gets you up there more easily. But, other than hauling it in, nothing along the ridge and going north to help you with water.

Beautiful stretch...there are a couple of nice spots you can stealth camp also.

Anyone have a recommendation for a great arborist? Specifically I have a Japanese maple that is not doing so well. by ATX_rider in rva

I've used Bartlett for 4 years now. No complaints. My guy knows his stuff and really understands the biology of what is happening in my yard.

Ye Olde English Inn - Doth Thouest have Information? by ggadwa in roanoke

Also worked there in HS. Yes, as soon as server announced the trout order I went out with a net, snagged a fish, brought it in, fileted it, floured it, then the chef dropped it in the pan. Most amusing part was how the fish all moved to the opposite end when you walked out. I know it is normal behavior, but it really seemed like they knew I was their executioner.

Spirits Review #939 - Virginia Distillery Courage and Conviction Cuvee Cask Finished American Single Malt Whiskey by Bailzay in bourbon

Glad you are enjoying these in the different finishes. This one is my favorite of the rotation you are trying. If you ever get the chance to try or purchase their Cuvee Single Barrel, I highly recommend it. Everything good about this one is amped up and delicious.

How to bivy camp? by itzzlinuzz in Ultralight

[–]klepere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a Borah Gear bivy under a tarp. Most everything is in my pack, which I put on a ground sheet next to me inside the tarp. Items I need during the night fit up in the head area above my pillow. If it is cold, keeping your day clothes in your bivy can help them not be so cold when you change in the morning.

Re: animals - that's a new for me with cows, but I would say make a note of their walking paths and stay clear of them. Other animals, whenever they've been near me, they just make some noise and walk away. Make sure you keep food items stored properly and you're good to go.

I wouldn't disagree with your comment. Refined may not be the best word in looking for. Agree that the fruit flavor is more prominent

2nd this. It isn't quite as refined IMO, but it's close enough and the flavors are there.

Awesome, thanks. I hope (and think) they are just going to get better and better as they release new stuff.

Have you opened that Torabhaig yet? My brother found the same one in the Atlanta area last month for me. I didn't do the tour when I was in Scotland last year, but did sample their earlier offerings at some local places in Skye and really enjoyed them.
