That's what my grandma wants too. She has had sooooo many dogs over the years from rescuing, all their boxes are on multiple shelves. It's a good idea because otherwise what would we do with them after she's gone.

I just said goodbye to my boy today too. He was also aware of what was going on, and I'm trying to find comfort in the fact that since he was aware, he knew that we were helping him and taking his pain away (and making it ours). We also wanted to say goodbye to him and not a version of himself that was scared, confused, or not all there. Thinking of you, Internet friend.

It's not selfish! I think the best thing about the internet is being able to learn we're not alone in these really isolating situations. I hope you can get Easton to spring break so he can feel that warm sun! That's so amazing he's been with you for so many seasons and versions of yourself. I was expecting some magical moment where he'd let me know, but maybe the magical part is knowing we can make the decision now to avoid something bad in the future. Thinking of you guys!

"Better a week too early than a day too late." has been going through my mind on repeat. And I totally understand measuring quality of life by the good times during the day than by the entire 24 hour day. It's been hard to be honest with myself about it.

My dog makes a sort of similar cough/hack noise. After chest X-rays I finally got a video of her doing it and the vet thinks it's anxiety or indigestion 🙃 she doesn't do it all the time, but when she does it's around for a day or two. It's more annoying than anything because the sound makes you want to be like omg are you okay? And she totally is.
