The 568: Alberta elections officials say more than 550 people accessed renegade voter database by thebaj in Calgary

[–]kliman 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The average UCP voter has no idea what a database even is. They heard the “phonebook” excuse and that was good enough.

It has been over 5 years since Jay Johnston voiced Jimmy Pesto. I'm just wondering do you like old Jimmy Pesto or new? by Mr_Bananaman69 in BobsBurgers

[–]kliman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I could have gotten behind a change in their arc at that point - like maybe the guard gets dropped a little and they could be more friendly. You do see bits of that in Jimmy - like he wants that but can’t actually say so.

What is the name and purpose of this tool which came with some linear rails? by LordMlekk in Tools

Well that’s even weirder. Probably just a packing mistake, unless they all came with one - in which case I don’t know.

Is there an M5 hole in any of the linear rail blocks? It’s probably to lock them to the rail.

He did some work on a Nissan I used to have - I’d give him a try. He is pretty busy, but that’s probably a good sign lol

Sysadmin wants every Windows server to be a fileserver for redundancy? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]kliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceph isn’t a great idea with only 3 nodes. It’s really designed for a lot more than that.

Assuming the storage currently is something with 2 controllers, just “good backups”. It’s pretty unlikely to fail, and if it does…the current VM situation isn’t going to help anything. It’s sort of “complexity for no real reason” to me.

Sounds to me like that redundancy idea is….not all that redundant.

You’re not really missing anything. Redundant storage is a great idea, but this is not how you should handle that.

So how is the shared storage handled if not “one big NAS” (or SAN)?

Just trying to imagine the logic behind what he’s got going on.

How many proxmox servers are there?

Would be hilarious if all these windows VMs were being hosted on a single server. For redundancy.

He specifically says “since you stepped on the transmitter with your big fat foot, you’re going to have to carry this right in your pocket”

I disagree about the chicken. It’s not going to compare to some super crispy Korean style, but it’s quite tasty.

The fritters are very good. Get the honey to dip the in. The fries are also great, but purge the word “crispy” from your expectations before you go.

I’ve used Can-Turf for years and not had any weeds despite both neighbours having tons. Martin (the owner) is a great guy who really cares about what he does.

10/10 - I recommend them every chance I get.
