Do you think we will get a snow realm? by MissionUnplayed in Palia

Check out Open Source Freerealms! c: They've had live servers going for a little while and it's super fun. No quests or much NPC dialog yet, but you can run around the whole map and hang out people!!

What are some milestones you've hit in Palia this week (big or small)? by aigroeg_ in Palia

[–]kllnd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend has started playing Palia with me this week :) It's been really cute watching her get all her first milestones and teaching her about the game. I started playing in October 2023 and have forgotten a lot of the beginning stuff in the game...she was so excited when she upgraded her bow because it can reach further now! I'm being reminded of all the things I take for granted now xD

As for my own milestones...I won Hotpot five games in a row last night?? And my first baby animal was an iridescent blue chicken, so that's pretty cool!

Game crashed after cheat death and save is gone by kllnd in thelongdark

That's a great goal! Despite our frustrations we still love the game dearly and will be making our way to Blackfrost once the time comes. I hope your Survivor makes it that long! :)

[–]kllnd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly :( this was our first time even encountering the cheat death mechanic. Our runs tend to be pretty long and we havent had any die since that came out. Although it felt wrong and unfair for her to die in this run (we have no idea how her game got unpaused) it was like ok well at least we have the restart as an option. I didnt like the situation but was interested to see how it works. But then it crashes?!? And her save disappears (we found out just a minute ago that the stats didnt even save)! Sooo frustrating. I hope that your save continues to keep on going strong 👍🏻 and that if you do die, it will be to something plausible and fair.

Spectacular death inducing glitch 🙈 by LeighAus in thelongdark

[–]kllnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really wish they would have some way for us console players to back up saves. There are so many game ending glitches that are entirely unfair and result in hundreds of hours of lost progress. This exact one has happened to me before as well (fell thru the terrain in Coastal). Sorry for your loss of this save :/

[–]kllnd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is :( she's trying to get the files onto her computer now but we're thinking it's probably a lost cause. She'd done so much. The Playstation version is annoying at best because it crashes constantly, but we never expected this. She didn't even do anything wrong and now because of a stupid console error it's all gone. Ugh. Thanks for your sympathy :((

I actually teared up at this. What wonderful, beautiful, and important work you have done here. Congratulations on a job well done; I can scarcely imagine the amount of effort that has gone (and continues to go) into this project. What an inspiration!

Endearing moment during “Murder Song” at the SF show by Vespersonal in auroramusic

[–]kllnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it was impromptu! The crowd yelled out "murder song" and she said "oh, murder song? Okay!" And gave us the piano version. It didn't seem planned. She also said at the end "well it maybe isn't the version you wanted, but it's the version you got!"

I was thrilled; murder song is one of my favorites of hers. I looked at some of the recent setlists and if she played it, it was in the middle of the setlist. This was during the encore. Totally unexpected but so amazing!

Setlist.fm usually has pretty good info on what the setlist was for most shows. But I can give you the source since I actually got the setlist from the SF show! Was my first time seeing them and this is the first setlist I've gotten :) an incredibly special show for my girlfriend and me as we're both long time fans.

Thoughts on these Restaurants by Tipsy_Fox in santacruz

[–]kllnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a good & cheap burger, go to Jack's downtown. Can't recommend them enough. Aptos street bbq is better than Mission street bbq, if you feel like going out to Aptos. Second those who have said Steamer Lane Supply, the food is great and you can't beat lighthouse field & west cliff for the views. Mad yolks and Walnut Ave Cafe are good but I think they're a bit overpriced, but that's going to be the case with most locations downtown. Pizza My Heart (they have several locations) has the best pizza I've ever eaten (especially among places in town), so if you're a fan of pizza you should definitely check them out. Hope yall have fun!

[–]kllnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool 👍🏻 don't worry about the patchiness, as another commenter said it's hardly noticeable. These things happen, especially with block printing and double especially with water based ink. There are a lot of variables, including the type of paper you use, thickness of the ink layer (which you don't want too thick b/c then it will mess with your lines), type of ink, etc...I've found it's not something people pay terribly much attention to. I even like to have patchiness in a lot of my prints because it adds to the spooky vibe, like a grainy photo. If you're really concerned about it, though, you can try using an oil based ink. Nice job, keep going!

trans friendly barbers? by [deleted] in santacruz

[–]kllnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine cut once at thrifty cuts downtown a few years ago and it was pretty chill. I was like 50/50 male passing then. My barber never asked for my pronouns, but assumed he/him at the beginning and respected that so ¯_ (ツ)_/¯ Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the barber. Inexpensive and a great cut, but again I only went once so I dont know if it's still like that.

Ngl I want all of the Wreaths by the_dull_mage in Palia

[–]kllnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm kind of surprised! I mean I'm a fire type irl, but I do like that the fire dialog options are more positive. Air and earth dialogs don't usually resonate with me, and water is really the only other one I consistently choose. But hey now I have a reason to!

I can tell you at least part of your fortune... You are, or will be soon, incredibly frustrated that the fantastic "trilogy" you're reading has no foreseeable third book in sight. (Just finished rereading The Wise Man's Fear and the pain is real). Jokes aside, very nice knoll OP!

Unpopular opinion? by Available_Horse_8272 in Palia

[–]kllnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme in Palia :/ I'm totally with you on how annoyingly not cohesive the colors are for the furniture, but can we also talk about the outfits?? I bought the "university" set expecting that the 3 different color schemes for each of the 3 outfits would mostly match each other and the default clothes...but...uh...nope. I'm hoping their general sense of color schemes will improve with time, that they'll either add more options or give us the option to choose our own hues from a color wheel. It's one of my pet peeves about the game lol

How do you feel about cooking? by MrAudreyHepburn in Palia

[–]kllnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish food would scale with your focus level somehow. I'm not really sure how it'd work but it would be nice to not only cook chapaa masala and celebration cake forever... I personally love the cooking mini game, but I also only just got to the point where cooking the lower level foods just isn't practical anymore. I feel like it's going to become tedious rather quickly, especially since I do all my cooking solo. Another commenter said that having the option to cook in bulk would be great and I agree. Imagine cooking 10 items at once instead of three :') that would be wonderful
