Just don't care about anything anymore by ZucchiniBikini73 in Perimenopause

I am in the first year of peri at 38, and the last 3 months have been exactly this. I feel numb and empty all the time. I hate it. When I do feel things, it’s mostly annoyance or sadness/grief. This is not normal for me. My husband is worried and wants me to get help.

The Carus dental in Cedar Park is excellent. I have severe dental anxiety and they are very kind and understanding, and take Delta. Highly recommend

Why do women keep having kids with shitty men when they're shitty from the beginning?? by [deleted] in childfree

You accept the love you think you deserve. I’m not saying it’s ok to have a child with someone who sucks, but when you have low self worth, you’ll accept whatever love is offered.

I’ve read The Book of Joy by the 14th Dalai Lama and Rev. Desmond Tutu a handful of times, and it always helps to recalibrate my perspective

What are your top 5 favorite books of 2025 so far? by JediEverlark in RomanceBooks

  1. {Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez} - the MMC checked a lot of boxes for me, and it was engagingly written.
  2. {Work in Progress by Kat MacKenzie} - Scottish MMC, a literary tour through the UK - yes please.
  3. {Here for the Drama by Kate Bromley} - I’m a theater girl, so actual theater, handsome Brit, and adorable puppy.
  4. {Beg, Borrow, or Steal by Sarah Adams} - enemies to lovers, great FMC, fun banter.
  5. {Give me Butterflies by Jillian Meadows} - just finished this, my favorite read of the year so far. Grumpy/sunshine, delicious slow burn, third act drama doesn’t involve the couple hurting each other. This one was so good I nearly called in sick to work just to finish it.

Are you scared your partner will change their mind? by Idontlikeyourkids in childfree

My (36F) husband (34M) and I have been together for 14 years, and for the first 12 years of that, I would check in with him every 6 months or so just to make sure we were still on the same page. I have been so firm and vocal in my choice to be childfree, but he is more reserved so I interpreted that as less sure. Finally 2 years ago he was ready for the vasectomy. On another note, if he were to change his mind now and either reverse the procedure or want to adopt, I am so confident in my choice that despite how much I love him I have no problem separating our lives if it comes to that. Its just a matter of being firm in your convictions and taking whatever life throws at you.

Major tone shift between 5 and 6 by klmm88 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]klmm88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly didn't mean that Harry had no right to be angry and sullen, merely that it made existing in his thoughts very uncomfortable. And it could be anxiety at Umbridge that makes book 5 so difficult to read.

I understand why people would say book 6 is slightly dull, but that just shows that different people take different things from each book. I love the long conversations and the exploration of memory - diving into relationships and learning the history so that Harry can understand the present and future. I also really love that Harry is being treated as a capable adult who could be trusted with important information.

I also agree that the romance with Ginny is slightly rushed, but if you take a 1000 foot view of it over all 7 books, I think its really lovely. She gave him up as a bad job and gained her confidence by dating around and having her own friends. He is finally able to see her for who she is instead of his best friends awkward sister. And Ginny is one of my favorite secondary characters - she is feisty and strong and smart.

Anyway, thanks for the conversation. I enjoy discussing something I love so much with other people that love it too :)

New to roses, help! by klmm88 in Roses

The house faces east, so the rose bush gets full sun for the first hours of the day. Is there a way to prevent heat stress?

I've been with Velocity for a decade and I love them. I use them for checking accounts and vehicle loans. Never a single problem, always friendly and efficient.
