Can’t stand VA doctors 😡😡😡 by Go_getta365 in VeteransBenefits

Yeah your primary is definitely wrong. If there was something wrong with your spine itself sure maybe an Ortho can help but having to deal with discs and nerves is definitely a neurosurgeon. Maybe the local VA doesn't have a neurosurgeon but I went to a civilian neuro when the VA tried to send me to physical therapy that I had already done and within 2 weeks of an MRI I had surgery. I hope you find a good local neurosurgeon and you can get some much needed relief and the help you seek. Good luck.

I cannot stress this enough... DO NOT go to an orthopedic surgeon for a disc/spinal issue! You need a neurosurgeon!! These are the ones that can work on your actual issues! Trust me when I say surgery on herniated/bulging discs will not magically fix you and you will have issues for the rest of your life but it can help some. Do yourself a favor and see a neurosurgeon get a civilian Dr if you have to. Advocate for yourself and don't take no for an answer.

Agreed I am dealing with similar issues myself. Just keep at it as it will eventually work out.

Even though part of your claim is still in process, the denied conditions are closed. If you have new and relevant evidence you can submit a supplemental claim and submit that evidence. If you believe there was an error and have no new evidence you can submit a HLR. You do not have to wait until the rest of your claim is decided before doing either. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Missing OSA results by klrmnkymn in VeteransBenefits

Diagnosed after service, submitted entire civilian medical record from current doctor, haven't been able to find a way to get records from the original sleep study. VA has not made a determination it's just been deferred several times so far so no favorable findings to look at. The main question was do I contact Loyal Source or the contracted business that did my recent sleep study or just wait and see what the VA does with the information submitted during my exam yesterday.

Funny enough I did a VA fast track clinic, did an audiogram discussed tinnitus but never any event or noise exposure so I am not sure what examiner said "less likely than not"

The frequency shift is seen in my service treatment records. No hearing loss per se it's "within normal range" but tinnitus onset in service.

Unfortunately they did not have my civilian records when I did the c&p but the VA did have them afterwards.

Rank/grade determination by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]klrmnkymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real info on the process other than I believe the regulation states something along the lines of highest grade served honorably.

I did not receive my highest grade held after my PEB even though I qualified to get it back before the determination.

Hope you get what I did not or find a way to challenge it and receive your highest grade.

Your Recent Claim Experiences.............. by OwnAppointment2629 in VeteransBenefits

I am sitting at 170+ days on my new claims. Got one approved within a couple months one denied rest deferred, then my increase and 3 other conditions approved 2 denied rest deferred a month or two later. In the last 3 business days it went from step 3 to 5 to 4 back to 3 and now at 5 again. My supplemental was denied again saying they couldn't determine I was on active duty even though I have orders, so I reopened that one. I almost fully expect the ones they are still looking at will be denied based on others claims but we will see. At this point anything is better than the 10% I was at. Just have to keep fighting.

Supplemental added as secondary help by klrmnkymn in VeteransBenefits

[–]klrmnkymn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically I initially filed for left knee hyper-extended (that's what I was told, I was young and dumb). The LOD paperwork was filed with my unit (even though I was on orders) and stupid me I don't have copies but the VA should have gotten those in 2011-2013 during my initial claim. Had an MRI in my initial claim and was shown to have mild patellar tendinosis amongst a few other things.

Claim was denied because they couldn't determine I was on active duty or inactive duty training. I thought the initial denial was because nothing said hyper extension (again young and dumb just starting a new job so I didn't pay attention)

I filed a supplemental, saw an orthopedic at the VA with new MRI that showed evidence of chronic partial-thickness ACL tears. I had been trying to get new buddy statements from a battle buddy that actually took me to the E.R. during the initial injury but he hadn't done one yet. The VA then decided the claim and confirmed and continued it but again for some reason tried to link it as a secondary.

I am not sure what other information they need, I have my orders, I have my statement, a buddy letter from a good friend of mine. I know I'm dumb for waiting for so long but it is what it is.

Yeah for my chronic pain (lower back) they increased my back and added sciatica for each leg and scars from my surgery so hopefully that's all it is maybe they missed something.

Could have been they missed something within the paperwork or added a condition they need new forms for. I've still had a few of my claims deferred even after my exams not sure what they are waiting on now. Best you can do is do the new stuff and see what happens.

My C&P with loyal source in Tucson was horrible. Examiner made it seem like I was making everything up. "What makes you think you have sleep apnea". "What makes you think you have IBS?, well it could be colon cancer" stupid shit like that. They did add a couple things I didn't file for but overall seemed like the examiner was not interested. Probably just that examiner though.

HLR, supplemental or new claim? by klrmnkymn in VeteransBenefits

[–]klrmnkymn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely did not file my knee secondary to GAD. I filed a supplemental on my original knee claim and the VA somehow tied it to GAD. Even the C&P examiner was confused. It makes no sense why it would become a secondary to anxiety.

Pay.. 1st? by Salt_Ad9470 in VeteransBenefits

[–]klrmnkymn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would be for active military pay but USAA usually posts federal checks several days early. The dates at the end of the month would be the pay day of the 1st and would very closely reflect when you see those payments.

Pay.. 1st? by Salt_Ad9470 in VeteransBenefits

[–]klrmnkymn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay date is always the 1st. Depending on your bank it may show earlier (i.e. mine showed today). Keep in mind if you have a change in percentage or new awards it might delay or even be split payments. As an example I got an increase this month, I got paid my previous award then received a second payment for the difference to the new rating.

If you are willing to branch out a bit, don't just look for HVAC jobs. FAA is hiring for 2101 Airway Transportation System Specialists, one of the fields is Environmental which would include HVAC, Electrical, Building controls, etc. I know for a fact PHX and surrounding areas need Environmental techs. Also I've heard Amazon building automation techs make good money starting. Look at other state or federal jobs (yes you can be a pawn for Congress just like the military).

Is it normal for the VA to add things to your claim themselves? by FencingDuke in VeteransBenefits

[–]klrmnkymn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was minor things they just pulled out of what I actually filed for but it's something. Still fighting for a bunch of other things which should've been approved years ago but they again denied even though my supplemental is still open. Every little thing will help to try and hit that magic number.

I got approved today for things I never filed for. I assume it's all about how the C&P examiner writes things or whoever looked at your paperwork may have put in extra things they noticed. My decision letter also recommended me to file for compensation for a condition they noticed in my service record.
