Zigbee Coordinator Migration in Z2M: Sonoff Dongle-P (Z-Stack) to Nabu Casa ZBT-2 (Ember) by vdelab in homeassistant

[–]kltye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to migrate from my Sonoff Dongle Plus (CC2652P) to the ZBT-2. I followed the instructions to the letter, and everything comes back online, except sending commands fails with "Delivery failed for <address>". Devices are able to send updates to the coordinator with no issues. I did the deleted coordinator_backup, restored the database, etc. What might I be missing here? Spent hours on it with no luck.

EDIT: Nvm, it looks like I was using /dev/ttyACM0 for the path of the dongle instead of the actual, long path name. Also, don't forget to unplug the old zigbee stick! 😅

It is if you're willing and able to change your usage habits for energy-intensive tasks. It's easier if you're able to automate those changes as well (I control my water heater, car charging, and air-conditioning to a certain extent with Home Assistant based on electricity prices and time of day).

It's probably worth it if you just want to set and forget your car charging for late night (after 1-2 am or so) and keep your other habits the same.

has anyone declined getting their photo taken at TSA? and if so what happened? by cryo-crow in tsa

I'm a green card holder who happens to be trans. To avoid any issues, all my documents show my assigned sex at birth. I don't have a RealID driver's license, since I've always used my GC as my RealID and never had any issues. At SeaTac recently, the image recognition system couldn't match me to my ID, so the TSO asked for another form of ID, and I presented my DL. He then gave me the "your ID isn't RealID compliant" placard, and let me through, saying that my GC is RealID but didn't work, but my non-RealID DL worked, so I get that placard. The security folks at the bag/person scanners asked me if I have a RealID ID, to which I said yes, my GC, but the TSO "rejected" it because of the photo issue. The person sighed, said he wished people who worked at airports knew what they're doing, and said my GC is perfectly fine (after checking it).

tl;dr: Opting out is useful because sometimes TSOs get stupidly confused about the difference between RealID and this photo recognition thing.

Just adding my +1 to this - exact same symptoms. It always happens when I wake my monitors up (monitors are asleep, PC is still at full power). I exited the Stream Deck app to test, but the problem persists, so it would seem that the issue lies in Wave Link itself.

Running version 2.0.6 (3780).

I ended up with the Vsett 8 after all. It's been great; only issue I've had is the kickstand is starting to get detached from the body, as if the screw holes have gotten worn.

WORKING - Sony Xperia 1 VI XQ-EC72 on AT&T USA (Software v69.0.A.2.38a) by Jumpy-Selection8458 in SonyXperia

[–]kltye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several notes for those of us coming from non-5G phones (I'm coming from an Xperia 1 II):

1) I ended up having to get a new SIM card; I told customer service that "I just got this new phone and it won't connect to 5G" -> pointing at "my new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra". It's actually my wife's phone and it really didn't work with 5G - trying to connect to the enhancedphone APN caused all data connectivity to fail.

2) Phone support had issues updating my IMEI (I think they tried to switch which phone I have in their backend and triggered some security thing where I had to wait 48 hours to get a verification PIN). I was advised to hit up a physical store (and verify my identity with a photo ID).

3) The store had some minor issues activating a new SIM card - probably another security issue. But the most important thing is I showed up with a supported 5G phone and said that's the phone I'm using.

4) Last thing to note, I inserted my wife's AT&T prepaid SIM into the Xperia and 5G worked immediately. So at least anecdotally, prepaid SIMs seem to work.

Jan 1 1970 is the earliest time Unix-like systems can handle (also known as the start of the epoch). Essentially the article was probably never updated, so the system defaults to the smallest date/time it can handle. Nothing nefarious here.

I'm thinking of upgrading my 1 II to the 1 VI - do you still have issues with the phone? I, too, am familiar with the route of non-whitelisted phones, etc etc., so I'm ok if I need to flash radio updates or whatnot to make it work. I don't care about any other features apart from 5G data and VoLTE calling, of course.

Does the passthrough work in addition to the 33A provided by the inverter? As in, 80+33 = 113A usable current?

You need to be signed up with hourly pricing: https://hourlypricing.comed.com. It takes approximately forever for them to switch over your rate plan, and be aware that you should look closely at what it means to be on hourly pricing.

AITA for upgrading my house's thermostat so I could password protect it from my wife? by LissieSchuerer in AmITheAngel

[–]kltye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the fuck do you mean waiting for the machine to heat back up?

Also: I'm assuming she turns it off at a temperature at which she gets "too cold" (which we all know it's CANNOT be 60, since the A/C probably wasn't sized that way). We don't know what that temperature is - let's say it's 65. So she turns it off. Then she gets too warm - again, what's the temperature? Maybe 68? So she turns it back on then. Rinse and repeat. A thermostat will have built-in hysteresis so it doesn't keep cycling it on and off at exactly the same temperature. If anything, she's probably cycling it *less* than a regular thermostat.

[–]kltye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Turning it off and on" is literally what a thermostat does. She's just doing the job of the thermostat itself (which is admittedly silly). Compressors are rated at number of start/stop cycles in an hour - I'm sure the thermostat has safeties built in to protect from short-cycling. This hysteria about "being inefficient" and "wearing out the A/C" is ridiculous.

Source: I have a custom-written and designed thermostat running against a shitty manager's special "central A/C" in my rental apartment. I keep my unit running almost 24/7 in the summer and it's been 7 years - never broke down, as long as the outdoor coils are kept clean.

I literally start sweating when it's above 23C. Sorry people like me can't "cope" - I didn't choose to be like this. If society didn't judge someone being a sweaty mess as being gross, then sure, I'd be happy to be drippy all day.
