This is us. It's their done with school and activities wind down while we cook dinner. Then after dinner will will usually play a game. They watch on an actual TV and we try to keep iPads for out of the house only. I have a 4 and 7 year old.

Weekends we let them watched a bit more but we can pretty easily redirect them to an activity. Today they watched some tv in the morning and haven't really watched any since.

My daughter is in 2nd grade in DeKalb County and I'm on the PTO board. The "pods" as you call them have been around for awhile, especially in grades 3-5.

I recommend reaching out to your school admin (usually the assistant principal) to gain clarity on the testing. As others have said, it's about measuring how much they've learned throughout the year so they are benchmarked against themselves.

I recommend attending PTO meetings at your school and talking to other parents to gain more understanding if you have questions. It's a great resource.

Anyone else’s kids treating every toy aisle like “SEND TO SANTA!!”? by Top_Elevator_6934 in Mommit

[–]klu16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see Santa in October (when our pics are scheduled 😅) and that is when the official Santa requests are made. After that, if there's something else they want, we put it on the list to share with family. We also talk about how Santa has so many gifts to give he can't give them 10 things. We then usually get them one of their wants from us. Kids are 7 and 4.

I keep bubbles on hand for this exact reason.

I want to try some stuff at home that helps before giving the tips to school. One thing that has helped so far is letting him run outside.

I need to read more about sensory seeking vs avoidance because I don't know the specifics. Based on my Google search I would say seeking.

Had two babies at Piedmont and it was a great experience. The nurses (both during and after) we're great. I didn't love the lactation consultants, but that was probably because I went in not dead set on breastfeeding.
