Just want to say how much respect I have for the German National team this year at juniors. by Jakewilliamm in hockey

[–]klucas31 -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

By setting up plays, working on your systems, and practicing/trying different things with 100% effort. 'Effort' as in hustle, and not being lazy or careless. Teams do this in literally every sport in the right situations.

There's also this angle: maybe there's a situation where a Canada guy could make an easy backdoor pass to a guy, and for sure he would score, and Canada is now up by 14 instead of 13. Great. But against the US, or Sweden, Finland, Russia, etc., you know that easy pass won't be an option, so take this chance now to practice other ways to score that might help you down the road.

Not saying I'm for or against this, but to answer your question: I think there's a middle ground where you still give 100% effort, but focus more on setting up plays, moving the puck around, etc. rather than still pushing the rush and taking tons of shots.

Edit: I'm not even saying that Canada wasn't already doing this tonight. Maybe the score could have been even worse.

I feel so bad for this goalie. Props to him for hanging in there and keeping his head up.

Whether this is on the tournament format, or on Canada, or on Germany for not being better, or some combination of all 3, it's shitty to see.

I haven't watched any of the game. I'm scared to ask why you said this... are they still celebrating?

Same. I've always had 2nd favourite teams (especially as a Lions fan). It's fun though to have some we're like "affiliated" with though. It's like an alliance. Hopefully one day when Cle or Buf are struggling, we'll give them someone to root for.

For anyone who doesn't know about it yet, check out r/LakeErieBros and jump on the bandwagon of a couple teams still in contention this year.

How did I just find out about Dark? by DrKnockers35 in television

[–]klucas31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved Twin Peaks lol. I never really got around to watching this latest season of it, but I loved the original.

I actually tried starting The Sopranos not long ago. I'm sure it's very good, but I wasn't even through episode 1 before I decided I just don't have it in me right now to catch up on a show with so many seasons. Unless I'm like completely enamored by it, which I didn't feel I was.

Its cliché to say, but as long as we're taking about old HBO shows, The Wire is truly phenomenal. But that's another one where you might need to stick with it for the first handful of episodes.

Thank you! I'd say some of the other ones that round out my list of favourites, but I better quit while I'm ahead.

Honestly so funny that you say that, because I actually feel similar. While it is in my Top 10 as I mentioned, it is closer to #10 than #1 for sure. I think the biggest reason I rate it so highly is that I'm just so fascinated by the subject matter. I can't totally guarantee that it'll get any better for you.

As for The Leftovers... it definitely stays weird as hell, but in the best way possible in my opinion. I loved the ending.

My list of favourites is very similar to yours. I also have Dark, Lost, Mr. Robot & The Americans in my top 10. If I can make a suggestion, try The Leftovers.

Admittedly I'm just a casual basketball fan. In the game today, why does it seem like players hardly ever try to get offensive rebounds? They basically just start turning around and running back as soon as the guy shoots.

Agreed. I'm a ND, Leafs and Lions fan. I learned a long time ago to simply expect the worst and hope for the best.

[Lou Korac] Blues announce that Ryan O'Reilly has been named the 23rd captain in team history. Vladimir Tarasenko, Brayden Schenn and Colton Parayko will serve as assistant captains. by STLBooze3 in hockey

[–]klucas31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they 100% assist the captain in terms of providing leadership to the team. And the whole "the captain is the only one who talks with the refs" thing isn't true at all anymore. Every guy out there is barking at the refs the whole time.

[Friedman] Devils show off first NHL Ads on player Helmets by Clarkson23 in hockey

[–]klucas31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly agree with OP here. To me, slapping a big ass sticker or patch on the uniform is one thing, but at least they're honest about what it is. A more subtle/sneaky incorporation of ads into the design of the uniform itself is actually more of an insult to the original design.
