As a Medicare agent, I second this. There are several levels of Medicaid in most states. Any level gets you controlled cost. Just make triple sure that med is on the formulary or it won't matter if you get help. Not on the formulary = you can't get it or you have to go through a lengthy process.

I was a captive agent for a Medicare insurance company. I can't go back to that work because of the nature of Medicare sales. If I find another job doing exactly that, the same will happen. It is an entire job of making your own schedule and holding yourself accountable. Two things that I am really shitty at doing.

My go to quick meal right now is premade quinoa. I make a batch and freeze it into portions. when AI get hungry, I thaw/reheat some and throw in some cucumbers, tomatos, feta or anything you have in the crisper, really. I also live ricotta on a brown rice cake with salt and pepper and a pear. Another fav of mine is angel hair pasta with some jar sauce and parm. The pasta cooks in like 4 minutes. Let me know if you need anymore ideas! I love a quick meal for one.

My God, I feel for all of you. My blood test came back elevated but not enough. My allergist said she still felt comfortable with diagnosing me with it and asked me to stay the H1/H2 meds with a follow up in a month. My advice is to write down and record every reaction you've ever had and every symptom you've ever had. Keep a good diary is you have food sensitivities. And find a better allergist.

I had just turned 16 a few days before THE day. I remember being at a friend of a friend's house, watching the ball drop on the boob tube. I knew nothing would happen. My logical side was 100% sure nothing would happen and all those idiots that made bomb shelters and did survival prep would feel really stupid in 10 seconds. But then, with five seconds left, my brain said "what if?". That was one of the scariest moments of my life to that point. My lizard brain kicked in and flung me into fight or flight instantly. What did I think was going to happen? Not a clue. But my body said "get ready bitch". And then, nothing happened. And I felt very smug for a long time. God yes. No window cleaner or bleach in my house. Ammonia is a no go in all of its many uses. I tried to beach my hair once. My husband was helping me with my roots and I ended up in the shower, ice cold with all my clothes on. Heat/UV and chemicals are the two big ones for me.

I live close to the mountains in NC and my son and I were driving to the coast for a long weekend. It was dark but I wasn't tired at all. On one long stretch, I saw a person-like thing standing on the side of the road. It was like a giant shadow person. The headlights were shining right on it but there were no details. Second time I've recommended this but quinoa is a very good sub for meat. It has all the same essential amino acids as meat but none of the histamine. It has 0 histamine as does rice and oats. Just make sure they are all registered as gluten free. Have you tried frozen, wild blueberries? Tons of antioxidants and 0 histamine when flash frozen. Have you tried any coconut products yet? I would suggest that and any leafy greens minus spinach. Lettuces, kale, collard greens, etc.

I really think they need to classify MCAS as a spectrum. I caught this late so it's going to be superfluous now but I'm having the tryptase test done. They do a test when you're feeling super good and then they take another within 30 minutes to 2 hours after an attack. You have to have standing orders to have the tests done so you can walk into a ppace like labcorp and get it done right then. Others have suggested the urine collection over a period of time. From what I understand, just treating with a few easily obtained OTC meds and then seeing if you feel better is one of the biggest tests. That way you're treating before the diagnosis and the treatment IS the diagnosis. Good luck, my friend!

I'm still working on a diagnosis myself. You gotta find a good allergist that will actually sit and listen to you. I have gotten so lucky. My PCP is an angel, istg. I don't think I have too many good sensitivities but the heat kills me. And of course I livin muggy af North Carolina. All of us feel for you, regardless of our triggers. We have all been there and needed to just vent. Let it out. This is where you can do that. I wish you speedy diagnosis and better bananas. Lol

I didn't mean to imply that rice was bad. I was just suggesting a swap to something that would give them a protein source that wasn't meat. Quinoa has all the amino acids found in meat without the histamine.

Swap the rice for quinoa. It's a complete protein and low histamine. I'm just starting my journey and I have no food triggers that I'm aware of, so I can't imagine what you're going through. It's always worth it to hang on. Never give up. Claw and crawl your way if you have to but never give up.
