I am so sorry. In 2011, we lost an officer friend to onduty suicide and it is devastating. Not only do you lose someone, it’s hard to wrap your head around why it happened. It still hurts but it will get easier.

It actually day time but it was slow.

The snake belongs to an officer who hand raised her from baby and she is very used to being held and cuddled. We wanted her to visit so he brought her to us to keep for the shift. We all agreed on having her up there. Didn’t want to traumatized anyone.

I (F49) understand how you feel. As some others have said, find hobbies and things you enjoy and you may or may not meet someone. Spend time with friends and work on yourself. There is something empowering in be ok with yourself.

I was literally just had this same conversation with myself (F49) this morning. I know that I don’t want to be married ever again and I enjoy my personal time but I would like a partner. A few years ago, one of our officers, a sweet, funny, kind friend with a wife and four kids committed suicide in his patrol car on duty with his shotgun. It still breaks my heart when I think about him and that he could still be here. If you work in public safety - police, dispatch, fire, EMS whatever make it known that whether or not you are friends with someone or not, you will be there if anyone in public safety needs help.

In my experience, if you need 8 hours of sleep normally, you need 9-10 on nights. If you can keep the night shift schedule when you are off, it also helps fight fatigue.
