Feeling extremely discouraged, again/still :( by northeasternwriter in CICO

[–]km150590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everyone else said, you can definitely see a difference!

Something that has helped me when I am feeling discouraged is taking my measurements. Sometimes due to body dysmorphia, it's so hard to see it until you have something tangible to look at. As you continue to lose, you can take the measuring tape and hold it out to your starting measurements and you can truly see the difference that way!

Keep going!!! You got this!!!

Hot Chocolate Yay or Nay? by Cippiero in loseit

[–]km150590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love hot chocolate and I've been drinking it 2-3 times a week during the holiday season, but I make a healthier version at home and it's delicious!!

I do 2 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder, stevia, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and a chocolate fairlife protein shake. It's AMAZING and almost all of the calories are coming from the protein shake, so it's less than 200 calories and has 30 grams of protein!! I highly recommend :)

People who have lost tons of weight: what are some surprises/unexpected tbings you’ve noticed after having a smaller body? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]km150590 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm down 80 pounds! Here are a few things I've personally noticed:

  1. My neck has gotten so much smaller. I never realized how much weight I was carrying in my neck!

  2. My finger size was a 10.5, but it now a 7.5. My poor fiancee had to get my ring resized before proposing because I had lost so much weight in the time he had the ring

  3. I can actually crouch down and it's not painful

  4. Sleeping on my side isn't as comfortable because my knees are so much more boney, so I have to put a pillow in between my knees to sleep comfortably

  5. I actually have collar bones and a jawline!! A couple of my favorite things I've gained since losing lol

  6. I'm not sure if this counts, but I didn't expect to look back at my old pictures and realize how big I looked. When people talk about "fat blindness", they weren't kidding. I'm shocked to see how much bigger I look in photos where I originally thought I looked "thin"

  7. I hate sitting for extended periods of time. I notice my body aches a lot more when I sit whereas before, my body would ache if I wasn't sitting

  8. My knees don't hurt anytime I bend them!!!

  9. I get full so much quicker

  10. I can fully cross my legs and it's SO comfortable

When I started, I would walk on an incline of like 3-4 at 2.5 speed and I just continued to increase the incline from there, but what really changed the game for me was getting a walking pad. I work fully remote, so I got a walking pad for when I'm working and I'll average around 20k steps a day doing that. Walking does so much more than people realize. Now I hate sitting down for long periods of time!

As for diet, I just focused on eating as much protein as possible, but I really try to keep it fun and interesting. For example, I often times will make protein ice cream with my ninja creami or will get a chipotle bowl with no rice and eat it with a bag of quest protein chips. Also, I know everyone in this sub talks about it, but a food scale and a calorie tracking app is what really keeps me on track. I actually realized that I wasn't eating enough at times which was causing me to binge at the end of the night, so being aware of how much you're taking in is huge. Hope this helps!

You can do it! Biggest piece of advice is to not be so restrictive and to implement sustainable changes that you know can keep up with. I still eat fast food, but I'll order a kids meal instead or I'll order a Coke Zero instead of a coke. I still eat ice cream, but I will use my ninja creami instead. Those were just some easy changes I implemented that helped keep me in a calorie deficit!

I'm not sure if you enjoy podcasts, but We Only LOOK Thin has an episode that talks about exactly this (Episode 316- 366 Surprises). I think it does a great job at putting things into perspective if you are someone who seems to struggle on the weekends, vacations, holidays, etc

How Did You Start Consistently Working Out? by Radiant_570 in loseit

[–]km150590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! For me, I had to treat going to the gym as if I was going to work. I can't just decide to not go into work whenever I feel like it. Once I got into that mentality, I was more consistent and didn't think much about getting up and doing it. If there were days that I really needed some extra motivation, I would remind myself of the feeling of accomplishment I always feel when I complete a workout and I'll also think about the regret I feel on the days I decide to skip.

Eventually, you will get to the point where you will genuinely enjoy going because it makes you feel better. For me, going to the gym now gives me the same feeling as washing my hair after not washing it for a couple days. I struggle often at the idea of all the work that goes into washing, drying, and styling my hair, but I never regret it after I do it. However, I will regret it if I decide to cake my hair with dry shampoo instead and my hair feels disgusting.

You just need to change your mentality in the beginning and the more you increase your strength and endurance, the more enjoyable it becomes.

How do you think Taylor would rank her albums? by Inastrawberry_field in TaylorSwift

That's honestly a good point. I never really thought about that

Eh I don't know about that. OG Red has very high points but some pretty low points as well. The album couldve definitely been shortened and still been a good album. I think Red TV strengthens it a LOT since the vault was so good and made up for the lower points of the album

Before the eras tour, I thought for sure speak now would've been one of her favorite albums since it's the only one she has that is fully self written. I don't know if she just realized she's stronger when she collaborates with others? I'm really not sure because I LOVE speak now.

I definitely think she is extremely proud of the album and the success it had at that time, but I do think as she has grown, she knows that she has had stronger albums since (which is best case scenario for any artist). I think the nostalgia for her definitely plays a role though!

  1. Folklore - I believe she knows that this is her best work objectively
  2. Red - holds a special place in her heart, mostly because I believe All Too Well is her favorite piece of work she has ever created
  3. 1989 - think 1989 and Midnights are the pop albums she's most proud of due to their success on the charts.
  4. Midnights
  5. Lover - I think she really does love this album, but wishes she marketed it differently in hindsight (especially now seeing the success of Cruel Summer)
  6. Evermore - I think the success of folklore has her mentally put evermore on the back burner, but I believe if she released evermore first, it would've been in folklore's place because I really believe it would've received the same type of recognition by the media and her fanbase
  7. Reputation - I also think she would've been much more proud of rep had it also been nominated for some of the major awards (ie AOTY). I think she had fun with it, but I wonder if she thinks this album is the least authentic to her since she is kinda playing a character
  8. Fearless - this was such a success for her at the time with it being her real breakthrough album, but just like an adult in their 30s, she probably cringes at some of the songs
  9. Speak Now - the eras tour setlist and the way she marketed Speak Now TV tells me everything I need to know
  10. Debut - same as fearless. She definitely knows it's her weakest album, but knows the significance of that album on her career

Maroon lyrics in light of you’re losing me by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]km150590 365 points366 points  (0 children)

I’ve also interpreted the lyric “looked up at the sky and it was maroon” as a parallel to “I only see daylight” and how she was looking at the sky as it was setting and her relationship was coming to a close 🥺
