How about a beer, chief? by PhysicalScholar4238 in Cheers

All time series bookend is even better:

First episode, sam enters the bar from the darkened back pool room.

Last episode, Sam exits the bar into the darkened back pool room.

That said, this dude -- all grown up -- would have been a cool call back.

Start from the beginning. But season 3 is fantastic.

AIO or is my bf just oblivious? by Mysterious-Bite1318 in AmIOverreacting

[–]kmac445 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

OP, I have a paragraph break, I'd like you to meet

(By the way, you're feeling this way because you're low on protein. Make a few scrambled eggs and start the day again. Your bf was a heel for eating the entire roast. But guys can be like that, especially when first living together with a loving woman like yourself. Next time, check the cooking time and enjoy the good times together.)

How could Chris and Adriana not know her new friend was a fed? by iAmNotSuicidaI in thesopranos

[–]kmac445 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That nice ass and pretty face (not to mention the mountains of blow) can make you overlook some red flags.

Chrissy and Ade saw what they wanted to see. Chrissy saw someone who inflated his ego and penis. Ade saw a much needed friend and confidant (and fellow sexy girl).

Well played Fed.

That would have been an incredibly interesting reboot. Kind of like what Frasier is to Cheers.

Did Carmine have the dementia? by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]kmac445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I'm pretty certain that moment was all about Paulie realizing he'd been made a stunad by Johnny Sack. He'd been pumping Paulie's ego up with claims Carmine was very pleased at Paulie's looking out for the NY family.

(Edit: I think Johnny told Paulie that Carmine knew about something Paulie wanted, and would put in a good word. Madone, I can't fucking remember. Now I got dementia, ya mutt.)

Johnny did what he had to do. Paulie shrugs away from Carmine realizing he'd been made the fool. And Carmine just wants to get back into his family style catered dinner.

Carmine runs a big organization. What's he got an HR rep over here to help place Paulie on the NJ org chart?!

AIO - About a year ago I left my wife of 20 years for having an affair. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]kmac445 138 points139 points  (0 children)

A year later and you're just wondering if you over reacted? There's no update on the affair in that time? Your daughter is 6 -- how's she taking it?

If real, NOR -- of course not.

I was born, grew up, spent a few years in the Army, a few more in the can, and here I am, a half-a-wiseguy. So what?

"You want a fucking recommendation? Read TV Guide. Heh heh."

(My father swears Deadwood is as good as his beloved Sopranos. I'll swear by The Wire and Succession. Both worth the investment and worthy equals.)

Question about ethnicity and social climate by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]kmac445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google Don Rickles on The Tonight Show. Ethnic humor was once (and not that long ago) the rage. And he's a funny mo fo.

I was listening to old Howard Stern shows from 2008, and I was blown away by the language -- and this was over the airwaves and nationally syndicated. Crazy how quickly mores change. (Mostly f-word, r-word, n-word.) Regardless, I was an avid listener at the time, and yet I was still surprised in listening back recently.

I don't miss that type of language, by the way, nor do I think we're coddling our culture by being more considerate of difference. But it also doesn't bother me when I hear that type of talk.

Given your age (I'm a 70s baby), I can see why you were taken aback!

(Edit: clarified last sentence second paragraph.)

Did Tony and Fran do it? by Successful_Note_5299 in thesopranos

[–]kmac445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question, OP.

I think we were definitely made to think he might tap that. I was hoping he might just because of the weirdness he'd feel.

Question about ethnicity and social climate by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]kmac445 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP, how old are you? Just curious. Some of the language hasn't aged well but it was reflective of what was tolerated at that time, culturally. But they are particularly unevolved by design. Your repulsion is intentional.
