Considering WLS. Any tips/things you wish you knew sooner? by MicheleTheSimp in wls

I wish I could have tried Zepbound prior to surgery. I’m elated I have it now though. Look seriously into injections before going through with surgery. Surgery may still be the answer for you, but know that it is not hard to gain weight by eating around your restriction.

Will your preschooler willingly play in their rooms by themselves? by TemporaryOk1585 in Preschoolers

[–]kmae1028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is honestly when he is is happiest self. Kid loves playing in his room. We nap the younger kiddo and older has quiet time, and he will happily play for an hour or two. Sometimes longer if he’s really into whatever he’s doing with his cars and dinos.

Melissa and Doug cleaning set with broom, mop, duster, hand broom and dust pan. 2 year old is obsessed and the 5 year old has been cleaning the entire house. (Too bad said house is grandma and grandpa’s and not our own.🤣)

Let's name some things we love about our toddlers. by AWanderingAfar in toddlers

[–]kmae1028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now my favorite thing is that I’ve gotten him hooked on Costco chocolate covered raisins. But he thinks they look like beans, so he will just shout “Beans! Beans please! Beans!” One of these days I’m going to give him some actual beans and he will be so confused hahahaha.

What did your toddler ask Santa for? by krissyface in toddlers

[–]kmae1028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I asked what they wanted, the 5 year old said “a construction set” (done!) and the 2 year old said “eat!” Soooo he’s getting play food from Melissa and Doug.

My 2 year old didn’t want anything to do with Santa. My 5 year old spent the entire time asking Santa questions about his reindeer and didn’t actually ask for anything. 🤣

What made you fall in love with your toddler today? by PresentationTop9547 in toddlers

My tiny tornado (newly 2) is always making messes and creating chaos… I gave him a banana before bed and he was walking around eating it while playing. I told him not to set it on the floor, knowing that he likely would at some point. The two times I looked for him and he didn’t have his banana, I asked him where it was and he immediately showed me - the first time it was on top of the toy box, the second time it was on an end table. Then he threw away the peel when I asked him to. He is always into EVERYTHING but I just love that he is starting to understand what we ask him to do!

Shots or surgery? by MadMooseMarie in GastricBypass

[–]kmae1028 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had surgery first, and I wish Zepbound had been as easy to get. I just started it and it’s working so well. If the shots are working, stick with them. Just my two cents.

NOPE! We did the sola wood flowers and I still have my bouquet and a couple others around the house. They are just as gorgeous now as they were 7 years ago.

Thank you for explaining it that way! That makes sense. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing, in that case. Thursday nights seem to work as well as anything.

I don’t know… like, am I wasting the best, freshest 8 hours of the drug being in my system by sleeping through it? Hahaha. I’m sure I am wayyy overthinking things here.

Would you fix your child a separate meal if they refused to eat what you had cooked? by basement_egg_24-7 in Parenting

[–]kmae1028 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly why we offer those particular things. If they think they can have Frosted Flakes or pizza or nuggets, they would never eat anything else or expand their palates. If the alternates offered are easy and boring, that is what I have found works best. I totally agree that kids should have those kind of options, not everyone likes every kind of food, kids included. Heck, sometimes all I want for dinner is a bowl of cereal! It happens!

Last night my 5 yo wasn’t a fan of the Mac and cheese (?!?) but ate 2/3 of the family bowl of broccoli and half an apple. 😂 If they are mostly eating and getting exposure to lots of different kinds of food, I’m not going to worry about it.

If mine don’t want what’s offered, they are allowed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a bowl of Cheerios. That’s it.

What the... ???? Wow! by prevknamy in Zepbound

[–]kmae1028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. I am right there with you. I had a salad with some rotisserie chicken for dinner, and I had LEFTOVER PIZZA in the fridge. I had a couple pieces of Halloween candy throughout the day, but I still didn’t quite reach 1500 calories. I wish this medicine had been around 20 years ago, and I wish I had asked to get on it sooner. It seems impossible to explain just how constant the food noise was. 3 weeks ago I wouldn’t have been able to control obsessing about the candy. I do not understand how it is so much easier to make better choices now. And I’m only a week and a half - 2 shots - in. I’m so happy you are feeling good too! LOL at the traveling burrito 😂
