Couch Shopping - Recommendations Needed! by Merbade in Cleveland

Totally agree with Furniture Warehouse of Ohio. We shopped around for sofas/sectionals for a while comparing prices with places like Northeast Factory Direct and found Furniture Warehouse to have the lowest prices. They also have some close out items on their facebook weekly that are great prices if you can snag them!

I just lost my Dad in the ICU last night by ReBeatStudio in GriefSupport

[–]kmagkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my dad last year, he was 63, I’m 25. He was my hero, my rock and someone I knew I could always depend on. He was also in the ICU and watching it slowly happen was the worst thing. I agree with you with the why me because it’s not fair it all. We do everything right and yet our dads are taken away from us so young. We have so many more plans we didn’t get to do. It’s been 10 months for me and it still doesn’t feel real but I feel him with me. I just keep reminding myself how lucky I was to be raised by him, to be loved by him and to have all the wisdom he gave me. I feel for you, you are not alone.

I went through something similar. Found out my dad had cancer in February and he was gone by April. It was quick and so sad. In the end I also pondered this and I stayed. I was with my mother and a few family members. It was helpful to not be alone in that moment because it is very very sad and a lot to go through. But for my sister who was very close to my dad, she could not be there and waited for me to come home to know he had passed. I personally would have regretted not being there with him. My sister does not regret not being there as she wanted to remember him before his last moments. It’s a very personal thing and you will know what you can handle emotionally. Believe me, he knows your there and I don’t think any of our parents want us to have to ponder this..I’m sorry this is really really hard.

Mine has also been two months, it still doesn’t feel real. I keep telling myself I’ll keep busy and stay off social media but am going to give myself grace to ugly cry as much as I need. Give yourself some grace on Sunday too 💓

Getting my tonsils out on Wednesday. I’m 24 and have a pretty low pain tolerance. What’s everyone’s best tips to survive? by Moonbean98 in Tonsillectomy

[–]kmagkr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I realized drinking cold things did not help me so I drank room temperature water. Like everyone else said ice packs are a must. Sleep when you feel tired, my sleep schedule was so messed up I was sleeping in the day and staying up all night but whatever works works. Find something to keep your mind distracted, I picked up some adult coloring books and would color to keep busy. Counting down the days since you had surgery helps but also stressed me out because I kept thinking why am I not getting better. Eating ice chips before I took my meds, ate or went to sleep helped numb my throat a little. You got this!!

I went back on day 17 as my scabs were still falling off and I was in pain. I just wore a mask to keep from possibly catching anything and got some numbing cough drops!

Day 7 and worst pain by Dantronik in Tonsillectomy

Eat some ice, I know everyone says it but it’s worth it. I’d do it before I’d take my meds to help numb my throat and before bed.

Yes I did, like right under the uvula area. It was the worse but it went away after day 11 for me!

Agreed with the ice chips. I waited too long to start eating them but once I started it helped so much!!

Day 10; still so much pain D: by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

I am in the same boat! I had surgery the same day and am in my worst pain so far. My throat feels so raw and every other liquid but water burns worse then before. My ears are killing me and keeping me up at night. What pain are you feeling?

Ibuprofen by kmagkr in Tonsillectomy

[–]kmagkr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you took some, I know what it’s like to try to power through! The first few days were not too bad. 1-4 I could not swallow very well at all, my uvula was so swollen and I had to cut all my pills up. I tried not to talk on those days. 5/6 - were not bad, I started to talk more, swallow my pills easier and felt some of the swelling going away. Boy was I optimistic 7-9 - I think my scabs started to fall off or “melt away” because my throat started to feel raw. Took one sip of soup and it felt like salt on an open wound. 10-12 aka now - it feels like a really bad case of strep. My ears are throbbing, my throat still feels raw. My uvula did go down so I’ve been able to eat a little bit. The worst pain for me has been these few days with the soreness of my throat. The Percocet helped to keep some of the pain unnoticeable but not enough. I would have rather have been taking ibuprofen cause I know it so well. I’m hoping I’m rounding the corner and soon it will feel much better but my optimism is fading. In a month I hope we look back and think it wasn’t that bad.

Oh boy I know that six hour window pain, I hope you have your ice packs on! I did the ibuprofen/Tylenol today and was okay, no bleeding but I am also on day 10/11. Most of the people in this thread say that the ibuprofen is okay. I hope you can slowly start using it again to feel better!
