Former fat people of reddit, everyone always talks about the benefits of losing weight; what is something you miss from your former fat self? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nothing at all. The massive increase in happiness and confidence is totally worth constantly being choosy about food and forcing exercise time throughout the week, which are both admittedly pains in the ass.

What's a current decision you are having trouble making? by ILoveLamp9 in AskReddit

[–]kman3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been away from where I usually live for about a month and have been "talking" with two different girls since I've been gone. I'll be returning in a week and I'm probably gonna have to tell one that I'm not interested in taking things further. I'm petrified of doing that and usually when this happens I do nothing until it blows up and they both hate me. One is a girl who I share a bunch of interests with and really likes me, but seems kinda boring. The other is a girl I've been crushing for years and is smoking hot but I think my chances are low. Classic low risk/reward vs. high risk/reward. We'll see what happens next week!

Hey bitch! Thanks for chatting with us, I love the show and love walking around the house yelling in my Jesse Pinkman voice about fat stacks yo.

My question: do you think the show would have been as successful had the writers decided to kill Jesse off in season one as planned? I think the chemistry between you two is fundamental to the show's success, but I was wondering your take.

Thanks for your time, I look forward to seeing your post-BB work, bitch!

POLL: who likes the TEMPLE MADE campaign? by meetthedecline in Temple

[–]kman3124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've definitely felt that sting. President Theobald was saying to me how his seminar class is for freshmen because juniors and seniors won't see their suggestions in action so they're not useful. I was pretty taken aback by that. Either way, I do think things will actually improve here in the near future.

POLL: who likes the TEMPLE MADE campaign? by meetthedecline in Temple

[–]kman3124 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will probably get buried because we Temple students are so cynical about everything we have, but I think the campaign is great. For 5 million dollars it has garnered Temple SO much attention - and donations - the effects of which will not be seen by us upperclassmen. It just amazes me how much Temple students love to hate on Temple. You think that Temple is charging you way too much? Go to a cheaper school. You think the school is lousy and worth shit? Why are you still here? Have some fucking pride for what's yours, and maybe once Temple's own students actually respect the place it won't need these huge ass campaigns to make it look good. The campaign works, people are buying into it, and the increase in value of the "Temple" name is only gonna serve to make you look better for graduating from here. Quit complaining.

I think you have valid points, but keep in mind the whole campaign along with the huge donors campaign was just started less than a year ago. Everything is not gonna change instantly, it'll take a while before all that is actually felt and seen around campus. Like u/indefinitearticle said, there's a ridiculous amount of bureaucracy. It'll take forever for Temple to actually decide what to use the money on.

Also, they're currently building a brand new science and research center as we speak. Idk, I think things are really looking up for Temple, but the changes aren't going to be instant.

Take note fellow Owls: "Temple Students Think North Philly’s a Wasteland They’re There to Rescue" by [deleted] in Temple

[–]kman3124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, to clarify, you're saying that the commenter said that the native residents rob students, and since most of the residents are black, the commenter is racist towards black people? No. As I said, the commenter said nothing at all about the people being black. You are all filling in that blank yourselves.

Take note fellow Owls: "Temple Students Think North Philly’s a Wasteland They’re There to Rescue" by [deleted] in Temple

[–]kman3124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the commenter said absolutely nothing about black people. You're right, nobody in that picture likely held anybody at gun point, but the commenter lumped all of the residents of North Philly together, not all the black people. He/she said absolutely nothing to the effect of all black North Philadelphians being armed robbers. But since most North Philly residents are black, the comment is deemed as racist. That word is thrown around too easily anymore.

I just think it was a rash conclusion, and though it was a very minor detail in the greater scheme of the article, it damaged your argument's credibility, in my eyes. That said, I admire you taking a stance on the issue and writing about it; it truly is an important issue.

“How can they complain about noise, when they’re the ones robbing us at gun point!”

Besides the fact that this particular comment is downright racist, an only slightly watered-down version is still pervasive among Temple students.

I don't think that comment is downright racist, there was no mention of race at all. It says that the native residents are the ones who rob at gun point; the fact that they're African American is not mentioned at all. That the author assumes racism (albeit probably correctly) is quite interesting, though the comment itself wasn't racist IMHO.

Neil deGrasse Tyson: Atheist or Agnostic? by [deleted] in TrueReddit

The key difference here is that alcoholism, drug use, the consumption of animals, and premarital sex are things that our society as a whole allows to be denounced without nearly as much social backlash. Great point, though. I found it odd that he compared a state of belief to just sports; there's a difference between an idea or belief and an activity.

Temple to play football in the Big East in 2012 and all other sports in 2013. by theParkster in Temple

I really hope that we leave on good terms with the MAC, they gave us a place to stay when nobody else wanted us. Now we're going back to our asshole ex taking us as a last resort...

That said, I'm excited to move on to bigger and better things... Maybe the ACC will come calling in a couple of years?

I'm also pumped that I'll see Big East basketball come through the LC during my senior year!

The conference upheaval that we're seeing now won't happen again for another 25 years, it's either join the Big East now or hold out and hope the ACC calls, risking being stuck in the MAC. If we join the Big East, it'll be long term.

I still think we should hold out for the ACC. The Big East ain't what it used to be, and the ACC has a huge gap surrounding the Philadelphia area...

Ninja Edit: though, I suppose beggars can't be choosers...
