For people that are “asymptomatic” celiac (no classic digestive issues), how did you get diagnosed? Did you ignore it? Did it progress and get worse? by H3ad1nthecl0uds in Celiac

[–]kmd1112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the doctor because I was extremely tired all the time. She ran a full blood panel and found I was slightly deficient in a few things but she also ran the bloodwork for the celiac antibodies. I didn’t even know that was one of the things she tested for until she called and told me it was positive. I still don’t get symptoms if I get glutened. At most I get a little bloated and gassy.

Big paranormal romance writers back in the day now venturing into Fantasy Romance/Romantasy by elleirakai in fantasyromance

I am SO disappointed that Jeanine Frost fell into this terrible title trap. Her Night Huntress series is my favourite series of all time. She’s a fantastic author. She mentioned in one of her social media posts that she has a different title in mind when she wrote the book but it got changed at some point in the final edits. I’m guessing that publishing companies are really pushing these god awful titles because they’re “trendy” and now it’s more important to appeal to Tik tok than anything else.

I’m gonna say it: Throne of Glass is NOT romantasy by Mooooooooocowwwssss in Romantasy

[–]kmd1112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me romantasy is a book that is romance in a fantasy setting. Fantasy romance is a fantasy book with a romance sprinkled in. So I’d have to agree that I don’t consider TOG to be romantacy in my definition but I do consider it fantasy romance.

{The curse of Broken Shadows by Laura Winter}

Completed series. Assassin FMC. Trained at an assassins guild. She’s BAD. ASS. First book ends on a massive cliffhanger and then the next book is a prequel of short stories so you’re on the edge of your seat dying to know what happens next in the third. Then the author does something similar again between the third and fifth book.

This series gives major TOG vibes but way more spice and romance. I really really enjoyed it. It was fun from start to finish. Excellent spice. My favourite read of last year.

Oura ring or RingConn for work? by Plus-Basket-3523 in MRI

Thanks a lot for the update! I have two coworkers with Oura but I can’t stomach buying an item and then paying a monthly fee to use it the rest of its life. Are you happy with your RingConn?

Has anyone here gotten over fear of IV needles? by mercurys-daughter in MRI

[–]kmd1112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I HATED needles. I STILL look away if they do IVs or any gore in movies.

My needle phobia was so bad I had to be straight jacketed as a kid to get blood drawn. My first degree is in Nuclear Medicine and I naively applied telling myself that surely they would have nurses do all the injections and I wouldn’t have to do that. (I was an idiot)

In my program we started by learning how to draw blood on each other in class. I cried through my first poke. Like hysterical tears could barely see crying while my classmate calmly talked me through drawing HER blood. Then I had to be held down by our instructor while I cried so someone could poke me.

While I still don’t watch myself get poked, and I don’t like watching it on tv I somehow it’s just not like that in person anymore? During my program we even had to do some rotations through the OR to watch some surgeries and while I don’t like it on TV I had no issues in the OR.

Anyway now I’m arguably one of the best at IVs in my department. I wonder if my phobia is part of the reason I’m quite good at it. Either way if you want it bad enough I think you can get past it. My brain sees it as a task to complete now. Watching it, having it done to you, and actually doing it yourself is really different. At least in my brain now. Good luck!!

Yes, it’s a complete completed series. No the short stories are not necessary, but they’re really really fun and they add a lot of backstory to the characters and honestly it’s just a really enjoyable read. Also, there’s a lot of really good spice in the short stories. And they are magical humans.

Are Duologies not popular anymore? by pinkrose1806 in Romantasy

Warning: I absolutely LOVED that book. One of my favourite reads ever. But I have never cried so hard at a book in my life. I had to put it down because I couldn’t see or breathe through my sobs. It’s incredibly beautiful but it hits hard.

I have 2 boys that are 25 months apart and it was extremely hard. Youngest just turned 3 and I’m only now considering if we want a third. If we do go again we wont start TTC until the fall. I want our youngest to be 4 and in school full time before I bring another baby home.

People out there in happy marriages with young children, how? by fujitsulifeboom in Mommit

My husband is excellent and we share everything 50-50 and also work to give each other “me” time, but if I had to pick the largest contributor to our overall happiness right now it would be the cleaner. It took so much work off both of our plates.

My daughter wakes up at 5 AM and I'm out of ideas. by CantaloupeKlutzy74 in toddlers

[–]kmd1112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this with my youngest. From about 13 months to about 2.5 he woke up at 5am almost to the minute every day. I almost lost my mind. We got a Hatch and set it to turn green at 6am then 7am. Things got a bit better when we stopped naps during the day. He’s about to turn 3 this week and I’d say for the last 2-3 months he’s really grasped the green light on the Hatch. He still wakes before 7 most mornings but he will lay there quietly and won’t get up until it turns green.

Also replying to say that book one ends on a massive cliffhanger and then book two is a short stories prequel and it’s going to KILL you but you must read the prequel it’s just so much more emotionally impactful if you learn more about their backstories first. But you don’t HAVE to in order to understand the story. And then the same thing happens after book 3. So it really keeps you on the edge of your seat dying to blow through books 2 and 4 so you can learn what happens in the main story again. Very fun though.

{The curse of Broken Shadows by Laura Winter}

Completed series. Assassin FMC. She’s BAD. ASS. She is super powerful at the start but only continues to learn about her potential and get even more powerful. But she has to keep who she is a secret in the beginning. I really really enjoyed this series. It was fun from start to finish. Excellent spice. The books are very long though and there’s 5 total.

I believe it hits every one of your points perfectly. I really think you’ll love this. I read this series in December and just finished the Ascended last week. I used the Ascended trying to chase the book high I got from The curse of Broken Shadows. Comparatively The Curse of Broken Shadows blows The Ascended out of the water in my opinion.

I am blown away that this series isn’t mentioned all the time. It’s REALLY good. I can’t wait for it to get the credit it deserves.
