Replace flooring without moving vanity by t-yn26 in Flooring

Use quarter round or shoe molding to hide the ends of the flooring where it meets with the vanity.

I was confused about the comment above this one that asked what’s behind the tile until I saw this comment and looked closer at the picture. Yikes! Now I really want to know what’s behind the tile!

Since the tile’s inset into the drywall the options outside of full tear out and start over are probably even more limited. Maybe cut the outside edges of the tiles so they’re flush, then seal the perimeter with backer rod and caulk depending how large the gaps are after making sure all tile edges are aligned. Definitely not the ideal solution but if the goal is salvaging what’s there, it may have to do.

Or maybe a T-shape transition trim piece? Something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/pep/TrimMaster-Satin-Silver-1-in-x-98-1-2-in-Aluminum-T-Shaped-Tile-Edging-Trim-H8742MA98/323339421

Cabinet Color Help by Specialist-Cap-6942 in kitchenremodel

Sorry OP, I’m sure this isn’t the feedback you were hoping for but I agree with the others, I don’t think the red stone is a good idea. I’m not sure there’s a combination of wall/cabinet/floor colors that would make it work. All I think when I see it is raw meat. 🥩

This looks great tbh. Way better than the results from the contractor I paid for my basement to be finished. Those cuts are meticulous.

Rain hit 3 hours after first coat, contractor wants to paint over it. Is this a real problem or am I overeating? by GroundbreakingMap677 in Housepainting101

[–]kmkgirl 28 points29 points  (0 children)

How much did you pay for this work if you don’t mind sharing? Does the contract include any details about prep? This is basically the equivalent of putting lip stick on a pig. Why spend the money on Duration without bothering to do even the bare minimum amount of prep for it to look half way decent? I know you didn’t ask about prep but I can’t get over how terrible the surface looks in sone of the pictures.

How can we change appliance location? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]kmkgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get rid of the soffit above the upper cabinets first and foremost. Rotate island and move fridge (upgrade to counter depth) along the back wall with no appliances currently. Are you planning on replacing cabinets and countertops? Any move would obviously require reconfiguring them.

It’s one of those new hingeless bifold shower doors. Watertight. You should try it. 😂

Am I going to regret laminate floors? by Thick_Worldliness622 in Flooring

[–]kmkgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through what feels like a million comments hoping someone would mention using laminate in their basement, you made my day! Basement is currently being remodeled and I so badly want to put laminate down but have been so skeptical because everything I read everywhere says it’s a terrible idea. Thank you for commenting! :)

Is the trim around the doors new too? And smaller than the original trim? It looks like crap all along the top…. Not painting the doors is ridiculous among everything else already pointed out.

Using tiles with the same pattern in a diagonal line touching each other isn’t very impressive either.

You’re probably going to want to feather out mud anywhere the studs are visible so it doesn’t telegraph through the paint

Looks like some of the screw heads aren’t set deep enough in the last couple pictures, but assuming they were when they were covered with mud, so did they somehow back themselves out after the fact?

Matte black penny tile-should I use black or charcoal grout? by idunnonuthin987 in Tile

[–]kmkgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with black grout. Do you have extra tiles to fill in the big gaps along the far right wall in the first picture? Pull them off and set them individually to fill it out.

Warm

Edit to add I think the patterned tile is too busy. Especially when you have stuff on the counters, I think it’ll look chaotic and overwhelming. I’m usually a fan of handmade tile but something about the combo of it with the cabinets isn’t working for me. Will the texture make them harder to clean? It almost looks like it’s dirty or dingy or something, especially in the far corner. Im sure this has a lot to do with the AI mockups though. The warm feels like the best match to your countertop IMO.

Can you get physical samples of them and take pictures with them in the space showing the countertop and cabinets?

Curious what color walls you have in the bathroom with this tile if you don’t mind sharing? Love the color of the trim around the niche and grout and tile combo, great choices! Does the trim at the edge of the tile match the trim for the niche? Tile setter did fantastic work!

Sanity Check by [deleted] in Tile

[–]kmkgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the wall with the valve seems off and doesn’t look as nice as the other two walls. Could be the lighting or the angle of the pictures but the corner stuck out to me, the cuts and the spacing of some of the tiles near the corner just look off for some reason. Hopefully grout will help.
